Soapy hot water. Let dry, spray light coat (very light) with K&N filter kit (or similar)

Before using water to clean the filter, remember it was covered in an oil.

So youd need to use the K&N cleaner also (which removes the dirt and oil). Water and oil don't really mix. lol
