I saw my windshield washer fluid indicator come on today, so I went in and bought a gallon. While fueling up, I pour about 3/4 into what I mistook as the washer reservoir. It was actually the coolant reservoir :pp::Stupid Me:

Anyone have pictures of the heater core hoses, and radiator drain plug on a 2013 5.7L ?

After a full flush, how much coolant and water with it take to be at appropriate levels?

my grandfather did that with his silverado. he came in the house and asked why it only took like 1/4 of the jug. i said no that can't be right then went outside to look and sure enough coolant reservoir completely full. thankfully it was at home and he never started it so was just a matter of draining the reservoir. i do all the fluid top ups now

Yup, looks like I'll be flushing the radiator, and still filling the washer fluid, tomorrow.

:facepalm

DOH! Oh well, it'll be good to get all that old coolant out of the system.
Perhaps get a good nights sleep before you start the remedy.

I dunno where the drains are, but I imagine you can find em crawling around under it.
Just don't drain the oil out by mistake :p

Yeah this could be interesting since I have a severe back strain that I am nursing.

For a minute I thought someone had brought a thread back from the dead! There was an almost identical situation on here a couple years ago, so have no fear, you are not alone!!!

Best of luck lol.

did you run the motor? if not then just siphon the reservoir, and save your back!

Just had mine (2011)flushed Saturday and replaced with the Evan's coolant and went with a 180 T-stat. Took a little over 2 gallons. You can buy the coolant already mixed with water but seems like a waste when you can get distilled for like 89 cents a gallon and split it yourself but I highly recommend the waterless coolant by Evan's.

The drain plug on mine was on the driver's side. Plastic cover with clips covers it.

By the way, someone I know had done this and nothing happened lol but get it out asap....

I ran the motor about 15 miles. So today, I siphoned the reservoir, and flushed the radiator. I poured distilled water, ran it through to clean it, drained the water then added a 50/50 mix. It was almost easier than an oil change!

I am probably wrong but I really don't think it would hurt anything just make it a little more diluted. If it was just regular blue and not a special bug wash or anything.

You know I always triple check because I have a habit of not paying attention and it just looks way to easy to do. It's amazing in the world where we print caution :contents of cup are hot on a coffee cup there isn't more of a safeguard in place, other than the windshield wiper emblem on the associated reservoir.

Becuase normally the people that burn themselves with hot liquids and then proceed to sue the vendor are not the same people that drive rams. Even at that there are tons of cars that have a sticker on the coolant resovoir saying CAUTION COOLANT ONLY

engine dipsticks are yellow (unless in germany) and pretty much everything is marked with the respective fluid on the stick or cap i dont know how much more idiot proof it can get. A audible warning that says "are you sure you want to add this fluid? Say yes or press 1 on your touch tone telephone"

Its amazing the government still lets us drive our own cars...

That's because there wasn't a stupid filter mounted atop your suspension to spill everwhere.
