I have a chance to get an alleged good running 4.7 out of a 2002 durango but its a 2wd. I do get to hear it run but I doubt if I can run it long enough to see if it drops oil pressure too.

How much do I need off my 4.7 to make the swap, I'm sure I need the intake and exhaust but do I need the oil pan and front timing cover too?

Thanks guys-
Jim

Aren't the motor mounts different on the 4.7 Durango Block?...like their physical mounting points on the block? Seems like I remember reading that it was incompatible with the Ram setup without major modification. I'd like to know for sure, for future reference.

Does anyone know if the Durango block is different as stated?

The engine mounts may be different but I seriously doubt the casting is not the same for all 4.7L.

The most major difference between the versions of this engine are in the ECM. The dimples on the timing gears can differ depending on the year you get. If you have the ECM/PCM with the engine it is easy to determine. 1 has 3 connectors and the other type only has 2. (or is it 3 and 4???)

Did you cook your engine again?

The intake is the same unless it is the newer intake introduced with the Cherokee, or the HO intake. As for the exhaust manifolds, I believe they are the same as well.

...but do I need the oil pan and front timing cover too?

I'm unsure about this part. From the back it's a bolt on to the tranny, no difference. If you get the tranny, it can actually be swapped as well. Just remove the output shaft housing, and swap in the transfer case input shaft housing/adapter with the t-Case and voilà!
