E brake replacement?

Will be changing brake pads shortly on my 15 Ram 1500 (110k miles on original pads. Or at least 83k miles since I've had it).

Going to check the e-brake as well. Should I just replace the shoes and hardware?

Not having any issues with it, but might need adjustment as pedal seems to have a fair bit of travel. I use it most of the time, especially at home and work as there are slight inclines at both places.

Of course, I won'y know the condition until I get in there and look. SWFL driving mostly, no towing or heavy hauling. No boat ramps either.

Opinions?

Also, no driving with brake on, except for a few starting to back up, realize its on, then release....lol

From what I’ve heard about the shoes can fail by coming apart ,if you are there with the wheel off already I would do it ,only like 35 dollars or so.

Kind of what I was thinking, I will go ahead and pull the rear rotors and check it out

Lots of people report the need to remove the axles to get the shoes from behind them, this is not true, you just have to work at it a little, be patient and they will slid out for you . Good luck

Don't worry about the ebrake. You won't need to change them. Not unless someone started using the ebrake to slow the vehicle down due to reg brake fail

The lining of the shoes separated from the backing on mine. The truck probably had 35 to 40k on it at the time, although I am in the salt belt.

The parking brake kit is pretty inexpensive. It will take some patience but it can definitely be done without pulling the axle.

I have a 2015 as well. My E Brake pads fell apart :O and were never used ! Going to get them done in a few weeks even though I never use them, As far as I know my mechanic will be moving the axle but may try at first the pain in the butt way ! All I know I will not be doing it lol
