So I might be way behind in even sharing this but it was a new thought for me. I have the 8.4 so it has Bluetooth connection... I only say that because I’m not sure if the base model does or not. Anyways I started using my laptop to download music onto sd cards and had good luck using them. I then decided to bypass that step and just link my laptop to the radio directly since they both use Bluetooth. Windows media player has a built in 10 band eq and it really lets you fine tune your sound. If you don’t use windows then I’m sure there are programs that are equivalent. Using the laptop is as easy as starting a playlist too and it’s nice having a 100v plug in so I can even plug the charger in easily. I can’t believe I was debating hardwiring another electronic device into the truck when this is so easy and seems to work so well.

I got an old tablet out a bit ago and was able to do the same on the tablet. My android tablet has a pretty cool Dolby equalizer thing on it. Can really change the sound a lot and the tablet is handy. I might look into mounting it somewhere

Along a similar route: I've been running a IPod Touch as a music library source. Currently has 6700 titles on it with lots of room left. The IPod also has a built in EQ that can help tailor the music to ones liking. Granted, the EQ settings are canned in that you do not have the adjustability (at least I don't think you do?) as you might with the windows lap top software...but it is a choice to consider. I put it on shuffle and never know exactly what's coming at me. Sort of like HD radio but with absolutely no commercials and no chit chat. I can Blu Tooth connect it or run the hard wire (which I normally do) which also keeps pod charged and ou of sight in the center console.

If your looking for a way to mount your tablet..might I suggest you check out (your gonna love this one) RAM Mounts Inc. They have a solution for just about any type of tech mounting question you might have. Worth a look: https://www.rammount.com/

I use their hardware for mounting GPS units on my motorcycles. I like there stuff.

I have actually used those mounts before as well.

The preset eq thing has never been very satisfying to my ears. I’m gonna keep messing with the stuff I have and make sure I don’t get bored with it before I do anything too crazy

Changed things up a little. Still liking the adjustability and having a new toy to play with.
