Stay away from metal CAI's. They heat soak and reduce power.

Remember, you get what you pay for. A good (proven) CAI will be 300 bucks all day long.

Actually that peaked my interest to build a homemade cold air intake.

go with a homemade over ebay all day. just dont use metal because they absorb heat so easily like chewy said. If you do it right it will give you just as much performance, possibly more, than the really high end intakes

the best tutorial I can find on the forums is this thread but I was hoping for more of a parts list..Best Filter to use? Best PVC size?...ETC I know everyone's truck is different but just a basic supply list.

What I would do is try and find a picture of a cai for your year engine like a K&N one then duplicate it. Like use the same degree bends and put the filter where they put it. so youd need a few like 45 degree or 90 degree elbows and some 3" pvc pipe. filter wise I, and many others, just use the spectre filter that auto parts stores sell. Ive got the bigger one they make, it seems to do just fine and is washable.

also see what else plugs into your current intake because youd need to retrofit those in there somehow. Mine just had a vent tube and that was rather easy. Some other years/engines have sensors and all. Maybe someone can tell you what you need or if you take a pic of whats on yours I might be able to help
