Yea,
MI. winter road salt certainly doesn't help.

If I'm not mistaken, Eibach was pretty new at making these springs/struts for the Ram when I got them?
I bought the Stage One kit from you Nick back in Oct. 2019. I installed everything on the truck shortly thereafter. If I had to guess, I have maybe 35K to 40K miles on the truck since then?
Honestly, with what appeared to be a pretty high quality powder coating job done by Eibach on the springs, I didn't think something like this would ever be an issue. Factory springs rust but don't normally fail this quickly and the Eibachs looked to be protected even better than the Ram ones. But, only a year or so after the install, I did notice a quite a bit of corrosion on the surface of the springs and even the strut tubes.

Salt or not, I also wonder about the quality of the spring steel itself on the set that I got since on the piece of spring that recently broke off the drivers side assembly, you can see how far into the diameter of the spring wire that the corrosion had penetrated. (See pics below). That's a good 25%-33% INTO the spring steel diameter.
To me, that seems to indicate either bad metallurgy, an improper wire forming process, or micro-surface cracks that could have been created during the wire's coiling process were not addressed (I wonder if these springs are hot coiled or cold coiled?). I believe these micro cracks can be taken care of by shot peening the springs after coiling. Wonder if they shot peen their springs?
Oh well... I'm not going to Monday Morning QB it too much.

As expected from a company of their caliber, Eibach is standing behind everything and they are shipping me all new stuff; hopefully it will leave Cali. today.

What should I coat all the new stuff with to help slow down the corrosion process?
Isn't there something lanolin(?) based that is supposed to be "Da' Bomb" for preventing rust/corrosion?
Back in the day we'd use asphalt driveway sealer on the underside of a car's floor pan after cutting/welding in repairs. That seems to be a bit excessive for springs though.
Is these such think as a DIY Rhino Liner?

I think something like this that leaves a wax like film would be ideal.

Thanks HunterDan, that looks cool... I'm going to get some of that ASAP.

Well, it's been a little while but I got everything changed out on the front end of my Ram on August 24th, the evening that the FedEx man delivered my Eibach "stuff".
Even though I also did this with the first install, I taped up the new coil springs where they contacted the spring compressors so that the protective coatings stayed 100% intact, etc...
I once again installed the struts with the perch circlips at the first/lowest notch which is supposed to be good for 1.75"-2.25" of lift (I think?).
The front end is once again sitting proud and back up to where I remember it being after the first install (@38.75" from the center of the fender flair lip to the ground after a few days of driving/settling).
It's riding smooth and no longer making any noise.

I was in a bit of a hurry on Sunday night to get the front end back together (I absolutely needed my truck on Monday morning). But, I did find that the rubber boot on the drivers side upper ball joint was ripped a little (not sure if I did it with the strut removal or what). So, I'll be needing a new ball joint on that side before too long anyway (even though the right side looked 100% fine, I'll likely get them both changed; @90,000 miles on the truck now, close to 1/2 of that will some lift). But working under the lights, I couldn't tell if the ball joints themselves are replaceable, or do they just replace the whole control arm which includes the joint when they go bad?

If it's the latter, and even though the lift on my truck isn't much more than stock, should I go with a new upper A-arm that has the ball joint angle changed for a lifted application?
Suggestions on this topic would certainly be heeded...

Thanks!

If you have the Eibach coils on Eibach struts you are at 2.25". At that setting I would recommend angle correcting UCA's. We have several options that would work for you. Send me a message and we can discuss and I can provide a quote.

Yea,
That setting is supposed to be good for up to 2.25" but even with the first strut/spring set, I've never gotten that much lift at the same setting out of either set.
Compared to stock height (taken before my first install), even with the latest install I'm at the same 38.75" (ground to the fender lip; after a few days/miles settling), which is in reality only @1.5" higher than what my stock ride height was a few years ago.
I probably should have gone up one more notch the 2nd time around, but since it would only be for looks, not off-road needs/gains, I didn't want my ride quality to suffer.
The Eibachs do ride pretty nicely at the first/lowest clip setting on the highway.

You've been PM'ed Nick.
Thanks

All trucks ride at a slight different ride height depending on trim/options etc. Yours may have been on the higher end.

Exactly, its all based on weight of the truck vs the spring rate. If you have more options and accessories causing the truck weight to be higher, then your lift results will be less vs a stripped down model
