(127k - Yes I drive a lot for work).
Bought the truck new.
When taking off from a stop (harder take off), there is a high winding/whistling noise just like a supercharger sounds (no I don't have one...) or like the old power steering pump noise. When I hit 3rd gear it goes away.
Normal take off from a stop - no noise.
No engine light, Truck runs perfect otherwise.
I do have a K&N CAI.
Had the truck checked out (Non Dealer) and they can't find anything. Wanted to try the forum before going to the dealer.
Appreciate any assistance.....
Thanks!!

Front wheel bearing maybe.........sometimes the noise will go away when you get past a certain speed. Did the dealer check those and/or have they been replaced yet already. It would be unlikely that one of those modern sealed units would last that long since they are maint. free(no such thing). I would check those and they're an easy enough fix if that is the problem.

Did they check the mechanical clutch fan? They are known to make the sound you are describing, doesn't mean it's bad,it's just the nature of the fan.

I would vote for mechanical cooling fan and/or a whining A/C compressor or pulley.

My '17 has the whining A/C compressor/pulley. I think the noise is always there, you just dont hear it once the engine noise overpowers it (which would happen under a good amount of load and/or higher RPMs)

My 2015 has a whine noise while the A/C compressor is on. I can only hear it at low speeds and only from inside the cabin. Other than it annoys me, there really isn't an issue. The dealer couldn't find anything wrong so I'm leaving it until it causes an issue.

Same here, although I question how hard my dealer really looked for an issue.

I waited for 3 hours in the waiting room, with my truck in sight for 2.5 hours of that time.......

Unfortunately, it's one of those issues where the noise isn't loud enough to be alarming but just loud enough to bug me. It's had the noise since I bought the truck over two years ago. It sucks that I will most likely need to wait for something to go wrong in order to fix it.

Mine is pretty loud, at least to me.

2 videos:

After the 3 hour wait they were proud to proclaim that they found another truck that made the same noise. When I got in it, you could just barely hear it, and I told the service manager that. Then he got defensive and said that replacing the compressor would work for a little while but the noise would just come back like the truck we were sitting in (which I then re-iterated made nothing like the noise in my truck)

Mine was fine until July/August of 2019. Bought the truck in October of 2017, so almost 2 years without the "normal, they all do it" noise.

So, was it broken when it was quiet? Or is it broken when it is loud?

Fca only fixes if it breaks. They do not care if it makes noise as long as it works. Just their SOP.

Mine sounds pretty much the same. My noise only happens when the compressor is on. Yours might be louder, but it's difficult to tell over the video you provided. It's noticeable to me, but again unless it's really causing a problem it will be difficult to fix. Really any noise related issues that don't directly affect the driveability of the truck or that is not extremely obvious will be tough to fix...it's unfortunately the reality of most dealers I've dealt with.
