I was at the dealer yesterday having oil changed and tire rotation on my ‘15 Ram. I have the 5.7, and I just turned 60k. The service guy said I need to have this Engine Compression Restoration done, it’s $75 to do it there. Is this a necessity with only 60k? Is it needed at all? Or something I can do myself in the form of an additive to the oil.

What is an Engine Compression Restoration?

I’ve had my truck for nearly 10 years with over 500K and never heard of it, and i occasionally bring it to the dealer.

Sounds like a re-ring job.Mechanics new p.c. way of telling you that a rebuild is due it seems to me. A good enough deal at $75. Lol

Wow, that is one hell of a markup on a bottle of sea foam with labor included.
What a joke of a stealership, I personally would not go back there at all for any reason if they offer fictitious repairs like that.
Find yourself a very good independent shop for your repairs and service needs.

They will charge for the sky hook they need to use also........LoL

Dealership told me it would cost $450 to install a windshield washer reservoir tank that was cracked on a 2014 Jeep Cherokee, said they would have to pull front bumper.
I paid $30 for the tank, pulled driver side wheel & inner fender, took less than an hour.

I was planning to start using Seafoam anyway, I’ve been using it in my older vehicles for years. I told them not to do that service and I’ll think about it. Thanks for the input, I’ll stick with the Seafoam.
