Completed the engine detail I started this weekend. With a few little extra custom changes, I think it came out looking pretty well.

Looks fantastic!
I had posted recently how much I respect the work required to keep our frames & suspenion looking brand new, engines even more so.
I try to keep mine clean, wipe down everything to at least get the dust off, every other wash but it looks like it’s never been touched compared to yours.

Lookin good !

Ive been checking this product out. Looks like it turns out great, and you dont have to do anything but spray it on, and spray it off.

It looks like it does a good job. I prefer to use Simple Green and a brush, then rinse the engine off, dry with a blower or compressor, wipe down with a towel. I then spray Sonus on the engine. Everyone has their own system--if you find something that works for you, and you like the results, stick with it.

I was just gonna ask what you used Jay.
Simple Green also restores and protects rubber, but which Sonus do you finish with?

I think they may have quit making this stuff but there are some still around--

I also found this if you can't find the Sonus, although I have not tried any of these

Alternatives to Sonus Trim & Motor Kote—an acrylic, spray-on, high-heat dressing for engine bays and plastics—include Meguiar's Hyper-Dressin autogeekonline.net (highly recommended, can be diluted), CarPro PERL, Stoner Trim Shine (aerosol), and Polish Angel Engine. These products provide a similar, low-effort "spray and walk away" satin finish to engine plastics, rubber, and hoses.

How much do you dilute the Simple Green, and how are you applying it?

I keep a gallon jug of Crystal Simple Green for O2 cleaning scuba regulators.
Maybe I could clean up the engine bay with something I already have in stock.

I use it at full strength, and I spray it on. Let it sit for a few minutes and then use a brush in areas that need it. Because I do it so often, there never seems to be any build up of oil. grease or dirt, so really I don't have to "scrub" it.

I'm gonna start a war on this thread I hope the OP NOT offended, First what a clean awesome engine hygiene;). I'm shock by how lazy some Americans are, the Lack of Engine Hygiene in America is absolutely discussing, Engine hygiene is maintenance, all that chloride, dirt, dust etc that is on America Roadways rots out connections and causes all kinds of electrical and communication problems in long term ownership. water DOES not harm your engine...if you have a problem with a connection because of washing the engine compartment, it's a Bad Harness/Connection that eventually would be showing its ugly head likely miles away from Home that's gonna cost a tow charge plus $$$ repairs and lost expenses, time.

Not offended in the least — someone told me once, "If you take care of it, it will take care of you." Sounds like pretty good advice to me.
