For years I worked on vehicles that had the old “V” belts that occasionally squealed when they stretched but could easily be tightened up.

Then came the serpentine belt that was supposed to be the cure-all for auto belt systems…could not be tightened because there was no need for 100,000 miles.

So now my 2019 Ram Classic belt squeals when cold and is apparently stretched out at 30,000 and needs to be replaced with another super high quality green belt for only $45.

How wonderful technology is….
If they made car parts that actually lasted like they did up until the early 90s then they would go out of business .... there is a reason why so many car parts fail, it's collusion between companies ... basically one company gets with others and says "you are going to need this part for your vehicles, we can make these parts and sell them to you guys and this will be your "OEM" parts, they will of course fail within a year or two, 3 years for sure, by that time the owners will have to buy a new part, "OEM" because they are OEM parts and we continue to make money" ...

As a business you can no longer afford to make parts, products, anything for that matter this is going to last 10+ years or you will end up going out of business ...

My parents had their first set of washer and dryer for over 25 years before they bought new ones and they didn't buy new ones because those broke, they bought new ones because they bought a new house and my mom wanted new washer and dryer lol ... both washer and dryer broke after a year and their first set is still going strong in Mexico because my Pops gave them to my Grandparents lol ....

Same thing with vehicles, my 1993 corolla is still running strong yet new corollas are braking down at ridiculous rates ...

Mine does it every time it gets real code. Squeals for a few seconds then stops. Has done it since new in 2018.

When it's REALLY cold sometimes belts will squeak when the truck has some milage on it, I've used belt dressing and it seems to help.

My 2000 2500 Deisel did the same thing, it was the belt, I have a Kioti tractor that also does the same thing, both 99% of the time its cold weather related. I also had a 1990 Ford that did it 24/7 it was because a pulley warped. On all 3, the way I confirmed it was the belt and nothing else I used Stop Belt Squeal-about $2.00 at the auto store, and it worked on all 3--but kept coming back on the Ford-Ford confirmed it was an out of round pully by some ridiculous amount like 2/10,000 of an inch of something. I replaced the belt on my 2500, with a quality belt because I was told the width on the top side of the belt could very slightly causing the top portion of the belt to rub the side of the pulley CAUSING a belt squeal. Replacing the belt resolved my issues.
