I’ve had the engine die in me twice just to start again after a couple of minutes.
This time, however, no such luck. Engine is trying to start but won’t turn over and start. I do have (2) error codes for misfires but have checked both plugs and wires, which are newish, to no avail. Any ideas as to why it won’t turn over?

So is it cranking (starter is turning the engine over), but not starting, or not actually cranking (just a click or no noise) at all?

Ignition coil could have went out
Distributor pickup coil could have died
Crankshaft position sensor could have went out.

Fuel pump could have died also.

Keep your troubleshooting simple: You need fuel.....and fire.

It’s cranking but just won’t turn over.
Starting to smell gas. It almost seems like fuel isn’t getting to the injectors.

So the starter and the engine are spinning?? If your smelling fuel then the injectors are squirting fuel but you don't have spark.

I’m going to get a new cap and coil pack and I’m hoping that’ll take care of the issue.
Thank you everyone for your help.

The most common problem on that year model gas v-8 was the crank position sensor. It is located on the bellhousing on the right upper area. I suggest a proper diagnostic, but I'd start there if I were the one checking it out.

Hey all.
Thanks again for all the advice.
After getting the crankshaft sensor replaced, nothing changed. Luckily, I bought the distributor cap and rotor at the same time. Waited a day and replaced the cap and rotor and the truck started right up! Whew!!
