Here we go. 2026 Bighorn SO Hurricane. Put approx 600 miles on it, engine light comes on. Stopped at Advanced Auto after work, plugs scanner on it, comes back with code “P1CEA”. Checks Google….”Boost side system performance issue”. Drives and runs fine, nothing wrong at all. Clears code, all good until I can get to dealership for first break-in oil change and have them see what’s up with the code. Puts approx another 600 miles on it……engine light. Same code, same thing, clears code. I have an appointment 11/25/25 for oil change and error issue. I’m hoping it’s just an “update” thing. From what I’ve heard these 2026’s have tons of modules that require updates often ? Anyone dealt with this particular error ? Pretty disheartening having a brand new truck with engine lights already As of today truck has 1,832 miles on it.

You should probably quit clearing the codes when it sets them.Live with the check engine light till you get it into the dealer.

Yeah it’s on now and my service appointment is Tuesday. The reasoning for clearing it was from reading a guys post on another site that suggested clearing it after a fillup of 89 octane by me may have triggered it due to dealer possibly filling it with 87 on courtesy fillup when buying.

By chance have you tried filling it up with 91,there's been a few reports of the trucks with even the lower output 6 having issues with 89,and 91 has cured their issues. Probably not what you wanted to hear, but maybe it's worth trying to see what happens

I haven’t actually. I’ve only put 89 in it. That’s an option I may try after my appointment. I just filled up with 89 or I’d try it now. I’ll give an update after the my service Tuesday.

SO does the 2026 SO engine not an 87 octane engine? I have put about 10k miles on my 25 hurricane SO running mostly 87 octane (did a couple of 91 octane non-towing fill ups just to see if I could tell the difference) and have not had any check engine lights nor any problems with the engine, so far.

I've run 87, and I currently run 91 in my '25. . . I can't tell the difference. I've had no CEL's since I've owned it. I expect the dealer will figure it out pretty quickly. I found this info that may give you more insight to the problem: https://www.engine-codes.com/p1cea_dodge.html

Good luck, and let us know how it turns out!

I’ve often dithered at the pump. SST HO calls for 91, which I can’t get here. 93 is available but the difference up from 87/89 is substantial. Been tempted to use 89. I don’t/won’t but I put in 89 as a top up when I was on a trip and nothing else available and I too didn’t see any change. Although it couldn’t have been more than half tank and I drive like I am still in my Fire truck ( according to my wife!) She doesn’t mean it in a nice way lol…..

I use 87 in my 25 without issues.
Right out of the OM

3.0L STANDARD OUTPUT ENGINE

Do not use E-85 flex fuel or ethanol blends greater than

15% in this engine.

This engine is designed to meet all

emissions requirements, and provide

satisfactory fuel economy and performance,

when using high-quality unleaded regular

gasoline having an octane rating of 87, as specified

by the (R+M)/2 method. The use of 91 or higher octane

premium gasoline will allow these engines to operate

to optimal performance. This increase in performance

is most noticeable in hot weather or under heavy load

conditions such as while towing.

12/23/25. Driving to work this morning, 2655 miles on it………CEL again !! Scan shows same code: P1CEA. Gotta be honest, pretty aggravating. Dealership can’t get me in until January 7th. Having a hard time thinking it’s just an “update” now. And even if it is, I definitely don’t want to have to go to the dealership every 5 weeks for updates to get rid of a CEL.

Aren't firetrucks the cause of house fires? I mean, when one drives by a house on fire, there sits a fire truck in front! :anitoof:

"Dithered" at the pump! Here we have to have our heads on a swivel, lest we get assaulted/robbed. So, the luxury of dithering is not safe! ;)
