My 2010 Dodge Ram has had a check engine light on for a few weeks now. The other day it started acting weird and I noticed the ETC light and battery indicator were flashing. I pulled into a gas station to investigate and the engine started smoking. I popped the hood and noticed the engine compartment was drenched with an oily substance, but there was no low oil indicator in. I went to drive it down the road and it completely stalled out and won’t restart. My code reader isn’t getting anything and when I turn the key I only get a soft click then nothing. I can’t figure it out for the life of me. Anybody have any ideas? Can’t afford a tow or mechanic at the moment

Is your battery good? Could have been overcharging boiled the battery.

I’m gonna pop it out in the morning and take it to get checked out. My truck has been running kind of ****** lately, and I have no idea what the oily substance sprayed everywhere was. Didn’t smell like fuel or coolant.

I replaced the Serpentine belt last year because it was worn out and causing it to throw check engine lights.

I live in upstate NY, I have no idea if my AC was working before it died lmao. The liquid was sprayed all over the underside of the hood, and inner wheel wells. It was pooled on top of my coil packs, but the engine itself seemed to be dry.

Too bad you didn't take pictures. When your truck is in defrost I Beleive the ac automatically turns on it helps pull moisture out of the incoming air clearing the windows faster.
