Just got my Hemi 5.7 and I want to liven it up a bit...figured exhaust would be a good place to start. I'm wondering what the difference is between replacing the muffler vs. catback vs. true dual setup as far as sound and performance gains are concerned. Just want to see if there's enough difference to jump from $100 to $400 to $600+ for new exhaust.

With a stock motor, you needn't more than a replacement muffler.

If you had high flow heads, hot cam etc etc then perhaps you'd see a increase from true duals.

That being said, purely from the sound stand point, a good true dual exhaust with X pipe just has a magical sound.

Back to reality, the factory pipes are all stainless, no need to replace them.
A cat back is a lot of extra cash for not much of a difference.

As mentioned above, the factory piping is stainless and adequate diameter, and our mufflers are only clamped on. You can get a Mufflex kit which literally clamps right back in place and would offer ever performance advantage a full cat-back kit would for less money and time.

Thanks. That's the info I was looking for. I don't really know what, if any performance mods I'll do to the truck. Whatever I do it'll likely be just some bolt-ons and maybe a tune. Looks like I'll check into the new muffler options to see which I like best. Thanks again.
