Dumb question but my 14 hemi 5.7 exhaust manifold bolts are broken. Wondering the consequences of not replacing them? Truck doesnt get put through a lot of stress (long trips, hauling etc).

Other then it being loud and annoying you might eventually throw 02 sensor codes possibly lower mpg. Once the leak gets big enough when you are forced to fix it tho have someone with a welder extract the bolts not drill it out.

Thanks. I can’t tell there’s anything wrong with it. Just a small tick when engine is cold. Maybe slightly lower mpg.

It could eventually burn an exhaust valve, it’s also letting co2 escape that will find its way into the cabin ,depriving your body of oxygen.

On my 11, they broke about 80k miles. I replaced them around 120k miles. When I sold the truck at 150k, it was still going strong. No leaks.

Anyone ever tried "ARP" fasteners??? Might be worth the effort to remove mine and change before they become a project to get out. I did not see any listed, so I just sent an enquiry to ARP on their web site. Will let you all know if they answer.

Its not as much the bolts as its the manifolds. The manifolds warp and from the warping they break the bolts. The manifold flange will now not be flat against the head so they will leak. Changing the bolts is not going to stop the manifolds from leaking unfortunately.

The real fix is to replace the manifolds with a quality option. That is why we recommend the AFE for a shorty or ARH and SW for long tubes. All these offer great fitment and feature a 3/8" steel flange that will NOT warp. We have these on many RAMs and the have no issues after install and also get some extra power too!

If you wind up doing it replace your manifolds like Nick suggested or at a minimum, take your old ones to a machine shop & have the gasket surface milled flat before reinstall. If you don't they will break again eventually.
