Any chance you know how to do a cat delete without throwing a code? I'd really love to put in true dual exhaust.

The flowmaster they used is a chambered desgin. I would get rid of that as chambered mufflers have been proven to rob a little horsepower. Go with a straight through design. I would do a muffler kit from MBRP or just go with a full catback from, Borla S sounds great on these trucks! message me if you would like a quote on anything

If you want to remove the cats, the best way to do it is just open your wallet and get a set of full length headers, ARH makes em with (louzy) or without cats

Then you just need someone with a tuner to shut off the rear O2 sensors

Very few tuners will shut off the rear 02's anymore,if you want to do it yourself you'll have to invest in HP tuning

Then my transmission guy suggested a good one, because he did it, no questions asked

Good for you,i'm just telling you, you'll have a tough time finding any US based tuner that'll turn off the rear 02's these days, even up here alot of tuners are starting to get gunshy about turning them off.You can do it yourself if you have HP

Hello again, all! I have a 2021 Laramie 1500 and I have been shopping for exhausts and recently made a change that I'm not really happy with. I replaced the OEM muffler with a flowmaster, I think the Part number is Part # 942543. It's a much smaller than OEM muffler and its like a cereal box with the inlet and outflow offset. It gives my truck a a real deep throaty sound that I love, but its still way more tame than I'd like. It's a great upgrade from OEM, but I want some more volume to go with it. I told the exhaust shop that I wanted it loud, but I don't want to make my neighbors to hate me either. I also have a wife and kids so I dont need something that will wake everyone up when I get home at 2AM. So, loud enough to enjoy it, but quiet enough to not be obnoxious.
So, I have some options and I want some opinions. Should I straight pipe the muffler - get rid of it and just let the resonators do the work? Should I remove the resonators and let the muffler be the sole source of sound suppression? Replace the muffler alone with a more aggressive one? Another option?
To put things into perspective, I live in a standard suburban Long Island area. My street is like 30 feet wide and our houses are like 20 feet from the curb and 35 feet apart from eachother. When I back my truck into my driveway, there's like 8 feet to the street and 5 feet to my house.
Purple Hornies! ;)

I remember the summer of '72. I was a gas jockey at an Exxon station that year after school let out. That year, we had long lines during one of the numerous oil embargos placed upon the US by OPEC. Gas was rationed at a max of 10 gallons per fill on even days for car whose license plate number ended in a even number, and ditto on the odd numbers!

One fellow would come in with a GORGEOUS 1966 Charger with a big block. It sounded SOO GOOOD! I asked him about his exhaust and he pointed to a place adjacent to the rear of the driver's door, and invited me to get down and have a look. I did, and saw a pair of "Purple Hornies" mufflers!

His statement was that he got the low rumble without the annoying resonant hum-drum in the exhaust at speed, which gave him a headache.

Later, I knew one other chap with those on his ride, and he said the same.

The company, Flowtech, combined with the popularity of these mufflers back then, might be behind the BPH medication called "Flowmax" ;)

I concur with this post and the Borla S exhaust. I put it on our 2022 Durango RT Plus. It sounds great, even on a long run in the SUV. Even my wife likes growl as this is now her ride.

My personal ride is a 2024 Rebel GT. It came with the MOPAR performance exhaust. And has a noticeable increase in sound over stock HEMI ram exhaust.

I added 5inch tips, and I believe it sounds deeper because of them. I’m now considering removing the rear resonators and installing the B2Fabrication Resonator delete pipes.

Just haven’t been able to find any sound clips of this combination. May have to just go for it and be the first.

The 5" tips do make the sound even better, as does removing the resos.....

I had a custom y-pipe made up and a Magnaflow 14" performance muffler installed, along with the 5" tips and reso delete...sounds really nice and deep.
At WOT it wakes up nicely and growls deep...not crackly and raspy like some systems sound like.

Yes, I believe that is my next move. Removing the resonators.

I’ll probably go with the B2Fabrication kit.

I”m not going to be popular in this thread…. Because NOISE is objectionable sound. What you guys who want to sound like BIG ENGINE…. is actually NOISE ..IMO….and NOISE is Ear-pollution. (The Harley Davidson chopper that rattles the cupboard at my parent’s house at 5AM on his way to work …. should be Jailed for Disturbing the Peace.)

There’s simply No Reason a little motorcycle engine should be louder than a modern Ram with 6.7 Cummins….which OEM sounds almost like an electric motor…. which I LOVE. You don’t Hear Me…. you only see my TAILGATE growing smaller…..LOL

Standing by with Nomex suit on…. :boxing:

I'd recommend a Carven muffler with resonators. Competitior or progressive.

I have the Competitior

I LOVE my progressive. It's quiet with no drone while cruising and barks pretty nicely above 1500

I am officially feeling old.

I love the stock exhaust sound. It barks a little bit when I start it cold, but tones down and is nice and quiet when I am putting along. So quiet, I can drive to my deer blind and the deer stay on the spin feeder a couple hundred yards away. Lol

Sounds great when I get on it, but it’s not too loud towing my camper.

Would I like a little more noise at times…sure, but I would not want to lose all the other mannerisms it has now.

When I was young…….I wouldn’t have had it for a week without sawing off the muffler and welding on a pipe! Classy, I know. My neighbors must’ve loved me starting my old trucks at 4:45 am! I did a lot of favors for them, probably kept me from being shot.
