So I have the core of my catalytic rattling around and its time to replace it. When i bought my truck there was no exhaust to speak of directly behind the cab/bed split, just 1ft long rusty sections of a real old dual exhaust still attached to some hangers. So back in May I welded on the Single to dual that i have now, Picked it up off my buddy who was parting out a truck. My thing is, is that I would like to go to a true dual set up. I extended the 2.5" exhaust back to just before the rear axle because the single to dual I added was 3". My question is if I remove the 2.5" section and run 2" to the 3" (I know that will be some adapter) will i have enough backpressure? I plan on running a high flow cat on both tubes.
This is all hypothetical ATM and am not dead set on doing it - just looking for some advice from people that know more than I do - The engine is pretty stock, plans on doing the 1.7RR's eventually, should have done it when I did the Plenum in June. Don't plan on turning the engine into any real killer. So if thats reason enough to stay away from the duals let me know.
Thanks,
Finch
