I'm finally getting ready to start redoing my exhaust on the truck but have a couple of questions. I'm going to be running the PaceSetter long tubes, magnaflow cats and dynomax bullets. And that's about all I know for sure. Original plan was LT's to a y-pipe, cat, cutout, then single muffler dumped. Then I had a buddy suggest running an x-pipe and two mufflers, saying there wasn't a point in running headers into one muffler.
Needless to say, I'm a little torn as what to do. Any suggestions?

do whatever you feel like you want to do.

i would do a y pipe into a single dynomax bullet based on your mods.

i mean it wont hurt to run a xpipe and dual 2.5" piping into your choice of mufflers.

I had the same issue and thoughts. But found out that I couldn't afford the LT's so i left it stock and just y pipe to tips. If you are going to run LT's with a 4x4 Then I'm not sure an x will benefit. You could always do a dual in and out muffler.

Thanks guys. I think I'm gonna stick to my original plan of LT's to a Y, single hi flow cat, cutout, then SI/SO muffler unless I change my mind and want to run the exhaust out from under the bed.
Or I could get fancy and French in a exhaust exit into the side of my bed before the tire lol

Sorry about that. I am NOT cutting a hole in my bed for anything. Especially for exhaust. I've got friends that think they're funny. Is a mans phone not safe anymore lol

I loved the way yours sounds but it's a little too loud for me at the moment. Still gotta haul the kiddo around lol. Once he gets a little older, or I get a 4th gen as a dd, I'll more then likely run straights like you did

Yea I can understand your point. Loud outside and semi quiet inside. Either way you go LT's with high flow cats will make it sound amazing!!!

That's what I'm hoping for :D
Think full 3" is too much?

I think you will be loosing more with 3 all the way back but could be wrong.

Depends on if you are doing duals or not. a single would be fine with 3 I think that was factory. Dual need to be stepped down to 2 or 2 1/2

^Correct Tony I was still reading it as there might be a chance of the headers ran then an x pipe put in. Single 3 would work dual like said above 2.5 or even 2.25.

So here's the plan
LT's
PaceSetter Performance 70-2213 - PaceSetter QuickTrip Long Tube Headers - Overview - SummitRacing.com
into a Y-pipe
PaceSetter Performance 82-1183 - PaceSetter Off-Road Y-Pipes - Overview - SummitRacing.com
Single cat
MagnaFlow 94039 - MagnaFlow Universal Catalytic Converters - Overview - SummitRacing.com
Single dumped bullet
Dynomax Performance 24219 - Dynomax Race Bullet Mufflers - Overview - SummitRacing.com

Question about the cat. Does the case length matter all that much? I don't want to have CEL's after all this.
And my cutout is 2.5". Should I reduce it at the cutout and leave it 2.5" back or just leave it out and sell it?

You could prob run whatever cat you would like then just need a non fouler if a code does show up.

full 3" was too much for my truck with the cam, longtubes, intake etc. kept the first half 3" and added 2.5" mufflers and the backpressure came back. now it feels amazing.

I completely forgot about the fact that my cutout is only 2.5" lol. So it'll be dropped down to 2.5" some place. More than likely between it and the cat
