Thinking about either buying a mufflex 14 or having a shop build me one with a magnaflow "y" pipe. Anyone gone to a muffler shop and had this done.

I can buy a 14 inch magnaflow muffler and a magnaflow "y" pipe for $110 shipped. This means that I could spend almost $185 dollars labor at an exhaust shop to get them fitted. Don't know if I should just get them welded in or have them make me a kit where I can remove the muffler later if needed.

What do you guys think?

it most likely is cheaper to have it done at a shop vs. mufflex. For me the attraction to mufflex is that it was a direct bolt on and i can take it off and put stock back on.

I prefer welded in my trucks. No worries about leaks.

I was thinking about asking them to do a similar job as the mufflex for the muffler, but would have to get a quote to see if it would be worth it.

Most 'bolt on kits' need some sort of modification, so eventually you may end up at a shop anyways, so I say shop.

I vote get it done at a shop. I bought the mufflex. It fits nicely, but it doesn't seal for a crap. I'm going to get mine welded soon.

Just bought the Magnaflow 14 inch stainless muffler on ebay. Think I did pretty well, I got it shipped to my house for $75. Offered them $65, but they turned it down. Got tired of messing around so I offered them $75. Everywhere else seemed to be around $90-100 shipped.

Then it is off to the exhaust shop. I will see how they do with the muffler, then let them do the Y pipe.:naughty:

I got the Mufflex y_pipe bolt on system. was not impressed by it. Have exhaust leaks :-( i am the kind of person this bothers. You cannot hear them tho. I personally would recommend getting a true exhaust over the mufflex.

It SOUNDS AMAZING!!!!!!!! if you were wondering

That's what I like to hear. I am hoping it is not annoying at high way speeds or I will hear it from my wife. Then I will have to invest in a louder stereo system.
