Hey. So I'm wanting to get exhaust on my truck. Had to wait a bit to get it but I'm finally in the market now and am looking for your opinions/suggestions on different exhaust options. I want dual pipes with a deep throaty rumble, but nothing too loud or crazy that everyone wants to write my truck off, lol. Not sure which one to go with... I've looked into a few such as magnaflow, borla, flowmaster, Gibson and mbrp but cannot decide. Thanks for any help! :)

I have a 4.7l and i have a flowmaster 40 series dual tip. I love it and have nothing bad to say about it. I have a catback with stock y-pipe.

I dont know the sound diff between the 5.7 and 4.7 but I would recommend flowmaster!

Do you care about "drone"?

Are you doing a complete system or just the muffler?

If you want a decent sound that's not over bearing, I'd say go with the 18" Magnaflow. It will also produce less drone in the cab.

I also have the 18" magnaflow and love it, just the right amount of sound. If your looking for just a little more sound then I'd just change out the muffler, add dual pipes and get some 3" tips!

I'm not too worried about the drone. And yes doing a complete system, not just the mufflers. Thanks for the tip! :)

Erin- I would definately suggest a Magnaflow Y pipe. Just ordered a 2 1/2" in and 3" out with a SI/SO 3" Flowmaster 40.

I've had a few different flowmasters (40, 44, 50 HD) and they all droned and sounded pretty raspy. Switched to magnaflow and got that deep rumble I was looking for. I will never use a flowmaster again, oh and all three rusted out.

Negatives I've found with Flowmasters are:

Rust (not stainless)
Drone (how do you think they got the name "dronemaster")
Lack of flow due to the design in the muffler. (still better than stock)

Their claim to fame is it never changes sound since it doesn't have the packing in it.

The problem with that is you can get 100,000 plus miles out of a magnaflow muffler with little change in sound.

Solo-Performance may make a system for your truck as well.
