exterior rust

I'm new to the first gen Dodge ! I want to get a head start on exterior rust and want to keep ahead of the issue !
I'm wondering where the prone areas are to look out for ?

Hi Alberta Mac. I have a 1985 D100 with 51k on it and it appears to have surface rust behind the corners of the front and rear bumper. And the worst I have is over the wheel wells in the rear. Good luck brother!

yup, over the wheel well. bad design. they weld the wheel well liner to the bed side panel creating a nice little pocket for things to collect. they that stuff keeps moisture trapped. etc, etc.

when I did my frame off restore, I scrubbed out the area and sprayed it with paint, then brushed on some more paint. then after curing, I added some under coating. scuffed up my arms doing it but hopefully it helped. or I just created a bunch of small undercoating pockets for moisture to collect.....

Also I'm getting rid of all the surface rust on my 85 D100 and behind the grill and headlights you'll find some there as well.

Also I was able to save the original welded number 23 stamp on the front as seen in the photos hope this helps [emoji106]

Check to see if your truck is still viable to take to Krown to get it sprayed
