Anybody have one? The whole concept kind of blows my mind. How do you maintain it? Wash it? Get bugs off the front of your truck? etc etc etc.

Are they just meant for show trucks or are they functional enough for a daily driver? Looking at finding someone to wrap my chrome tow mirrors to match my body paint.

Not my pictures - just an awesome wrap job:

I can dig it if your looking to completely change the look of your truck.

I would assume that wrap is pretty tough and durable however if you do have some damage to it it's not like you can just take some touch up paint and fix it and if you had to replace say a whole door panel how will it match up to the old stuff??

That is a killer wrap he did. If your just doing your mirrors then go for it.Shouldn't cost much at all!

You can just use plastidip or autodip to paint your tow mirrors. Much easier to do.

The wrap washes just like normal paint. If you did matte or satin finish, you may want to avoid wax or washes with wax additives. Expect to drop off your mirrors to someone for at least a whole day and pay $200 for a good job. Those sharp bends are very difficult to get right, especially trying to tuck it behind the glass. You could try it yourself. Vinyl is cheap. Just need a heat gun, time, squeegee, and maybe some vinyl surface prep and glue stuff.

The vinyl is quite thin in order to be so flexible. So I don't think it will offer much protection. There are clear paint protector films that are likely much thicker than vinyl wrap.

I would have them painted like Carlo said.

I used the same stuff on my old Infiniti grille...gloss black metallic by 3M. Full vehicle wraps are a PITA and expensive if hiring a pro to apply it...but they hold up pretty well and you can wash it like paint. You just can't protect it or correct it like you can paint. But it maintains the paint underneath well...effectively like having a clear bra.

I had the roof wrapped in gloss black on my 350z. It never looked as smooth or glossy as paint and showed swirl marks after washing. I would've preferred to just have it painted.

I don't agree with full day and $200. Shops around here could do mirrors while you wait and charge $100 or so.

The 2 shops I got with in Daytona weren't very impressive. $80 for 3 interior dash pieces. $350 estimate for a hood, using the vinyl I bought. Took them 3-4 days to do the dash pieces I dropped off. Not a great experience to say the least. Im happy you had better luck.

I would totally wrap my truck. Just curious about this also. Hopefully a member can post some photos up and give a good run down. Price and durability.
