The range of the factory remote start sucks. I don't even bother trying to use it from inside at work when it's a couple hundred feet outside in the parking lot. 2 of my last 3 Ford trucks had the factory short range, one-way remote start, like my '16 Ram. However, there was a long-range, two-way OEM upgrade kit available that was all plug-&-play. It took 10-20 minutes to install in each truck, although the '13 F150 needed to go to the dealer to be hooked up to the Ford computer system to update the truck so it "recognized" that it now had remote start.

These upgrades gave the trucks 1,000+ foot range (under perfect conditions of course) and because it was two-way, you got the flashing led on the fob telling you it was running. They were cheap too. Worth every penny.

So is there an upgraded start kit available for these trucks? I haven't seen anything on any of the OEM Mopar parts sites so I'm assuming no.

I don't know if it helps but I haven't found a range limit using the uConnect app to start my truck.

I just use the app. I don't know of any aftermarket anything that will help with the factory key fob method except for a complete aftermarket remote start

Too bad that the app is slow and costs money to use the service after the free trial ends. Had there been any worth, I would have paid for it but I won't pay for shoddy services.

I haven't heard of an upgrade unless you go aftermarket.
