The problem started about a year ago. When the temperature drops to around 35F, the gauges get a little wonky when ignition is turned on. Battery and fuel gauges don't move or they just bounce around. Also i get a Serv 4WD light, along with a few warning lights. I'm able to start the engine if I let the cab warm up by using a small "milk house" heater. I just found out that there is a module installed into the back of the cluster that reads the keyless entry and anti-theft system. Is it possible that the module isn't reading the inserted key properly and may need replacing? And the module also affects the rest of the gauges from working properly?

Chances are if she's throwing warning lights, she's throwing codes. If you don't have a code reader you should visit your nearest auto parts store and have them read for you. This is how I would start the investigation.
