Looking at throwing a coat of wax on the truck before Winter and was wondering what everyone's favorite wax was. First coat I put on was Mequiar's Cleaner Wax. Gave it a very nice deep shine and after 3 months is still looking good and will probably use it again. Just curious to what others use as their go-to wax. Got a friend that uses that Black Ice stuff on his car and his always looks good. Curious to what everyone prefers.

Long term protection with ease of install and none of the white residue, I always reach for my Adams Quick Sealant. Two coats of that will last 6 months plus.

For my garage queen which is fully corrected and black, I use Adams Quick sealant for a base and then top with Adams Patriot wax. If you've never used a SUPER quality 250+ dollar wax before, you're missing out. HOLY CRAP! It's like spreading on butter and it comes off and leaves depth like no other.

For my DD RAM and Enclave it's purely Adams Quick Sealant.

I go for ultimate protection, ease of use, and customer support.

Remember, sealants no matter the brand HAVE to be put on clean un-waxed paint. So, wash, clay, IPA wipe down and seal.

I have never seen Adams in store around my house but that may be due to the price of it. It would probably be something I have to get online. Usually I just see, Meguiars, Mothers, Turtle, and a couple generic brands.

I used Chemical Guys JetSeal 109 and their base carnauba wax.
I'm very impressed with the results.

The idea of a sealant as opposed to a wax just makes a lot of sense.
Try it once and you'll see.

You won't! It's what they call a "boutique" product. Higher quality base chemicals and such. When detailing as well as many other things, you get what you pay for. They are a vendor here though! Use "Ramforum" for your 10% off.

If you have to stay with store bought, stick to Mothers. IMO, it's the best in the store. Meguires is OK and TW is NOT... The problem with most store bought products like scratch X and TW Black Ice is they load them with "fillers" which hide imperfections, but quickly fade leaving you to see crappy paint again. Adams and many boutique products push correcting your paint for the ULTIMATE shine and quality. That said, Adams does have a glaze with fillers and their "Buttery Wax" has a little bit of fillers. Those are marketed more towards the person just looking to wax a car and protect it.

Yes, I could go on for hours/pages...

Great info, thanks! Which Mothers product would you suggest? Is there one that you prefer over the others? This isn't a show truck so $250 on wax is a little steep. I still have some Meguiars leftover, but I'll probably look into Mother's for my next polish and compare the two. I will also check into what the other guys had suggested on here as well. I dont mind spending some cash on the wax but for a daily driver to and from work and the occasional other thing, I don't know that $250 is reasonable for me.

If you want to continue to "wax" your truck you can look forward to doing that about once every 2 months to continue to provide protection to your paint. As was stated before, you can use a sealant on your paint and it will last about 6 months. Also please understand that the terms "wax", "polish" and "sealant" should not be used interchangeably because they all perform a different function. You can go to either/both of these web sites---autopia or to autogeek--these two web sites are an excellent resource as far as detail products are concerned. You can read for days about products and techniques and it is easy to become buried with all the information but you will have a good understanding of what products to use and which products do what.
Good luck
Jay

P.S. IMHO---asking a question like what wax do you think is best is kinda like walking into a room full of guys and asking what beer they think is the best--your probably going to get about 2 or 3 dozen favorites, that are all the cheapest, best, fastest, last the longest, easiest to put on and take off, and besides my brother-in-law said it was the best----LOL

I use Wolfgang Deep Gloss Sealant on my daily driver (08 Tacoma). For my 04 black dually (the one as my avatar) I had the paint corrected about 4 years ago and in those 4 years i think ive washed it maybe, MAYBE 4 times...it never gets driven except to a couple shows and sits in the garage, and even after 4 years the paint is perfect....the less i touch it the better....but I do use a polish called Midnight Special on it. Use a polishing pal and a black 4" foam pad. Normally i just use that and nothing else, but i may spread some Wolfgang on it as well sometimes....

Where do you guys find the time to claybar, seal, and wax. That's an all day adventure. My truck is no beauty queen or show stopper. But I still like it to shine. I use Mequires Brazilian Wax. I haven't done it in about six months but when I washed it yesterday it still looks waxed. Not that it doesn't need to be done again. :D I have a claybar kit but haven't found the time to do it. Jay you want to wax my truck next?

Zaino, not a close call for me, when they changed their formula it was a deep look with long term protection. For my second I like the klasse AIO/SG combo, a little more work but good long term protection. When I am in the mood to wax I go with Collinite, but sealants last longer. I usually Zaino once a year and sometime towards the end of summer put a coat of Marque D 'Elegance. I find it the easiest collinite product to use and gives decent durabilty. Actually I think it is past time for a wax, that is what I'm doing tomorrow.

Chemical Guys has products that will keep your truck looking good without having to spend hours on it. I used the clay bar glove and clayed my whole truck in an hour. Its black so it needs to be California dusted every night. But it shines every day going to work.

Favorite? Meguiars #16, their original paste wax recipe. They haven't made it for years and I'm still kicking myself for not buying more when I had their receptionist on the phone.

Collinite 845 hands down is the longest lasting wax I have ever used. Easy on easy off, a little goes a long way. $20 bottle. Great thread on autogeek teaches you everything you could ever want to know about it.

Big fan of Meg's clay bar kit, pick it up at any big chain store.

Wash
Clay
Meg's cleaner wax (for small scratches) if necessary.
Collinite 845
Top with your favorite wax, if desired.

I have used adam's products for years and stand by them! I still like a wax called "liquid glass" sometimes hard to find. I know Autozone has it, has a picture of a 67 vette on the front of it. Lasts almost all year long and great stuff!

I just bought a DA polisher, and plan on doing my wife's car and my truck soon. My plan is wash, dry, Mother's clay bar, Meguiar's M105, followed by M205 (got some scratches and swirls the dealer was nice enough to put there for me). Then potentially glaze it with some Chemical Guys Extreme E-Z glaze, then to top it all off, Mazerna Powerlock Polymer sealant. Kind of went on a spending spree there. LOL. I'm going to post results when done.
I'm actually excited to put in 10 hours of work here.

My favorites for protection are: Duragloss 101, Duragloss 105, and Collinite IW 845.

Favorite beauty wax is Pinnacle Souveran.
