Now I'm going to have to remote start my truck and time it! I know the other 3 cars with factory remote starts are all 10 minutes, but to be honest rarely use the remote start on the Ram.....don't drive it daily and it's parked in the garage so don't need to remote start. It may very will be 15 minutes.
Just FYI THAT info straight from 2019 manual. I have also timed it to confirm ages ago for chits n giggles.

It seems my remote start also triggers defrost when it's cold enough. I've never paid super close attention but on cold mornings when I get in, the rear defrost (and mirrors) is on.
I'm not sure about the HVAC, and defrost controls, but I do know that if you have heated/vented seats, and heated steering wheel, you can control that through U-connect. If you have auto climate controls, that might be why all the defrost settings come on(this pic was taken 11/20 around 8:15pm EST, yes it's that warm here :Big Laugh:)

Seat & wheel are set to auto when it is below freezing. So far all the Automatic things programmed by the previous owner have been just fine ex the radio stations and favorites for the phone - those overwritten.

Before we retired and she dragged me into city, on the farm was a 2 car garage for car and 1/2 ton, no heat and scads of mice, with poison all over the place.
Wife can't stand them.
I would use the remote start in winter when cold, never tought to leave the door close to see if it killed mice. I would have gave it a shot, you would want to vent are interior a bit before driving after you back out.

I bet the hopped up 340 duster would have gassed the hell out of them, considering how fast you could dump a tank of gas with that, and 2 teens.

LOVE my remote start.
Had it added from a Jeep Chrysler deallership a few years after I bought truck new.
They sent me a email saying anything we sale we install for free, just pay parts,
At the time I think I paid 250.00 for the Factory remore start , so I pain NOTHING in labor, came with 2 new factory key fobs.
I wanted a leveling kit, BUT since they were not a ram dealer, they didnt carry the parts, (so they said)
Still happy with my resmote start tho.

Love mine. Wouldn’t have a vehicle without one in central Ontario. I have a 2017 Sport with the leather interior. My remote start triggers a few extras, depending on the weather. If it’s cold enough out, the remote start triggers the driver side heated seat plus the heated steering wheel as well as the rear defroster. If it’s hot out ( can’t remember the exact number ), the driver seat ventilation turns on. My truck won’t fit in my garage so it’s out in the weather every day.

Wish I would have had remote start when I lived in the Great Lakes area! Don't use it often here in SoCal, but one observation is it won't start the truck if you are low on fuel. Guess they want to give us a shot at making it to the gas station!

This thread reminded me that mine has the factory remote start that I've never tried. Guess I should check to see if it works.

Considering carjackings, a kill button would nice a nice addition.
Not needed. Contrary to popular belief, engineers figured everything out before installed remote start in millions of vehicles. Remote start locks the doors and starts the engine. It will shut off in 5 minutes or so. IF during that time someone smashes your window and breaks into the car, they would still need the key in order to put it in drive.

In my wife's Jeep, which has keyless start, you could start the car with the fob in your pocket, drive to a another location, and have the passenger with the fob in their pocket get out of the car. At this point the car will warn you that the fob is no longer present, but if you wanted to you could be and idiot and drive off. The vehicle will stay running until you shut if off at which time you will be unable to restart it.

Also, if you're low on fuel (<50 miles remaining) it won't remote start.

I have lived in the cold, remote start on cold mornings is nice. I now live in SW FL and getting the interior cooled down is also nice. That being said I don't actually use remote start all that often.
I use that 2-3 times day down here...I hate getting into an oven when I go home...lol :33:
