Getting close to turning 100k on the ticker and little things and some long term things that I cant figure out keep rearing their ugly head.....

Truck ran and drove great since I bought it but ever since it came back from the rear diff blowing up due to recall issues she has never really felt the same.

1st issue:
Rear ring/pinion failure resulting in warranty rebuild.

2nd issue:
Failed lifter resulting in new cam lifters and motor coming down to short block and refurbished under warranty.
I'm still skeptical that metal got into the crank bearings but time will tell on that.

3rd issue:
Cracked brake caliper piston.... happened twice,
solved bu replacing front calipers....twice

4th issue.
ABS.Traction control issue
This has yet to be solved and don't know why it is popping up. I have inspected the whole system replace one sensor that was messed up by the dealer but still the issue is there.
Other thoughts will be I'm replacing the front wheel bearings and if there is another speed sensor that is throwing things off. or a bad ABS module.

5th issue:
Right rear signal light failure.... I've replaced the light twice in the past week (like looks fine when I replaced it ) but code keeps popping up on the Evic.

6th issue:
Key Fob not working... I have noticed sometimes I go to start the truck with the tip start ignition and it doesn't start, and now the fob does not lock and unlock the doors and would sporadically work to roll the windows down when holding the button down.

Oh and 7th issue
Now I'm throwing codes for speed sensor and 4th gear issue... I don't think this is a WOT throttle downshift issue as I can feel issues shifting in all gears.. has a hard shift from 1-3 and smooths out 4-5th It is time to change the fluid which is happening tomorrow, fluid and filter change.

Oh and 8th issue:
The damn hacked together exhaust falling apart, which I also think to be another dealer change from a employee's personal truck cause it doesn't match all the way through and none of the hangers line up etc etc..... oh and the truck used to have black tips... now it has chrome....
That comes off in two weeks for a new custom system.

Other non failure related issues due to previous owner and also dealer stripping parts at trade in - rear sway bar endlinks being incorrect length, contact on inner fender destroying it (have yet to install the one I bought)

I love my truck and have no plans to get rid of it but all these things failing that I don't have time to fix and chase down and don't trust shops to fix especially (not tooting my own horn) when I cant figure out the problem with the same equipment I have that they have.... IE the ABS system fault.... that one baffles me but I know its related to the caliper failure and I'm assuming the 4th gear and speed sensor error.

I'm hoping the truck holds together long enough till I purchase the jeep and then it gets torn apart and gets a manual trans(if possible) reworked suspension (pro-touring style set up) and a ton of engine work (still not sure if I will be sneaking a 392 in or just heavily modding the 5.7 ) and then all the body changes I want to make... But if things get much worse I may just trade her in on the jeep and search for another R/T

Stupid question for the key fob thing but you never know lol: have you ever changed the batt in the key fob? When the voltage starts to drop off they can act funky sometimes.

And whats the abs issue? Just the light comes on? Codes a speed sensor?

Abs/traction control light will come on and off, no CEL codes. I haven't hooked it up to the snapon scanner yet to get the abs codes or fault. Usually the light will clear once the key is cycled. its very inconsistent.

As for the Fob, yeah I have changed it 3 days before it failed. haven't taken it apart to inspect yet.... No time till april, I'm booked solid.
Oh and I have put 4 batteries in it in the 15 months I have owned the truck...

in my old '13 i had an issue with the FOB also. i simply fixed it by using the other FOB, then eventually getting rid of the truck. on the non PTS trucks i think its a common issue.

Oh man....with all of those issues, it sounds like you are already thinking about trading her in.

I'm with you on just holding out as long as you can until the jeep, but if it's currently your daily driver, would lean more into trading that guy in.

Well I do have another vehicle so it doesn't have to be my daily.. but its another project I've been looking to start and would have to put a little back together to drive.... its just hard to drive a stock ZR2 blazer everyday when you have the R/T in the driveway...

I'm also thinking of going and buying a 02-04 mustang GT as a commuter.. I can pic one up for 3-6k and then really tear into the R/T from there... Problem with that is the GF cant drive a manual and without the jeep we would still be trading off on vehicles when I pick up the lil one until I buy the jeep....

Mine used truck came with original two fobs and door keys. The fob that was clearly used more has the issues described even after battery replacement. Luckily for me I have the other one :roflsquared:

Yeah, I only got one from the dealer which has always kinda bugged me but o-well. I have planned to change it out to a factory autostart fob and have the truck reflashed to do so but I'm not ready for all that right now. looks like I will be limping by till I buy the auto up/down switches and other stuff needed to add factory options not on the truck, like the putting the factory mirrors back on with the courtesy lights in them.

I am the same way with aftermarket remote start/keyless entry. My fob needs to last until I decide I want remote start or I trade this thing in.
