Started this way back in JUNE. :D

Had some issues with a hell of a whine after my new amp and 4 door speaker install. Went out there today with some new speakers for the front doors (didn't like the fit on the KS693s in the front doors) and some new RCAs. In the doors now? KS6.2 components. Sounds MUCH MUCH MUCH better! Simply amazing. And, the weird whine is gone. I think there was a bad connection at one of the speakers (which would also cause them to sound muffled and muddy), but all good now. Love the way these fit, and sound!

and a great place for the crossover

That looks awesome!

I did consider those when I was looking into speakers but I never thought about mounting them like that. I was stuck thinking in the box and thought I'd have to drill a hole in my door panel to mount the tweeter. Needless to say, my audio guru buddy really wanted to drill but I didn't, lol.

I nabbed the plates on Amazon for $10. You have to drill out the spot for the tweeter (they have rings there for different sizes).

I had to notch them a bit too, and I did a horrible job on the ones in the pic. LOL

I'll have to nab some pics later. I didn't make the box, Morgan (myoung84) did....hell, over a year ago? Its been a WHILE! I like it, performs pretty damn good!

After changing all the speakers, can I ask how your balance between the dash 3.5's and the door speakers is?
I had to stand next to the door open while parked, and listen just to make sure my 6x9s were actually IN there- all we can hearare the stupid dash speakers (all stock)
I'm wicked jealous; my wife know what I've modded in my car and doesn't want me forever tinkering and upgrading the truck (insert nagging smilie here)

Looks good man, so you used just a 6x9 plate and cut for the mid/tweet?

Its pretty balanced now, but I am running the doors off of the amp, so I can crank them a little more to even things out. :D

bingo! The 6x9 plates are a bit too big, based on the 4 tabs on the stock door panel. Nothing my dremel couldn't care for.

Also, on each, the tweeters are held in with a big rig nut. I dremeled the top of those off too as they were too tall. Some slight modifications, only bad part was the hot plastic landing on my leg while I was dremeling! LOL

Mas photos?>

nah. forgot! soon.

Damn those are nice. An plans for the headliner speakers?

Also, how hard was it to replace the dash speakers? How does that plastic piece come off?

headliner? **** no, I'm not doing those. no need in my opinion.

Dash plastic on my truck, just popped out.

bingo.

trim removal too.

Do yourself a favor and get the plugs from Crutchfield to wire them right up. There is NO room up there to work.
