Hello everyone, I've been a long time Dodge/Ram owner. Including close to 20 Sweptline trucks over the years. My current "new" truck for the last 6 years and until it falls apart, is a 2016 Ram 3500 SRW 6.4 Hemi, RCLB that I use to go camping with. I always have a work truck, currently 2024 3500 Cummins CCLB, so I don't drive my truck often. But I maintain it religiously as when I do use it, I'm usually driving from PA across the country. This truck has been to well over 35 states with me.

I am looking for input and advice on people that have modified their trucks. This is my reliable camper truck but also a toy when I'm not "overlanding" I currently have a S&B cold air, ARH long tube headers with cats, and full custom single outlet exhaust, as well as plenty of carli and Thuren suspension upgrades. I plan to re-gear to 4.30 gears as I run 35/12.50s and may go larger in the future.

But mainly looking at what else I can do to increase the basic power output, I'm not interested in big cams and high horsepower. Stroker kit with low compression? Should I already have had a custom tune? Different injectors and throttle body? I have done some of these things on 5.7s in the past but there doesn't seem to be much love for the heavy duty trucks. image000000(4).jpg20240414_181725.jpg

Welcome!

Long tubes are where you should start looking at a custom tune IMO. You are leaving a lot of power on the table if you don't. Also surprised you aren't throwing codes for the cats with those headers.

Bet you'll pick up a ton of power if you just have that thing tuned with those mods you have already done. But it's not cheap, you have a locked PCM so you'll have to send that out. Then someone has to tune it on a dyno or you will have to send them data logs if you want to do it remotely.

Yeah I think you are right, I am currently talking to Hemifever about and ECM upgrade and tuning. I am prepared to spend some money to get this thing running good. I have been getting some codes, mostly P219B. I did replace all four O2 sensors with the headers and I did spark plugs, currently at 108,000 miles and runs like a top but some of these nuisance codes are getting on my nerves. I never had them on my old 5.7 that had full headers but that was 2012 with just box tunes.

My 2014 6.4L Big Horn really woke up with a custom tune from HemiFever, an S&B cold air intake and a Magnaflow muffler with a resonator delete.
