Hi,
New to the forums - great place!

I've also just recently purchased my first brand new vehicle (normally buy used) - a Ram 1500 Crew in Maximum Steel. That said I'm looking for best advice for washing/waxing...as in the proper procedures?

I've looked around here and it seems there's lots of info but much of it seems to be very involved - or geared toward a show truck.

My truck is not a daily driver and not a show truck either. I just want to keep it clean and shiny...but I also have 2 toddlers so time is a premium so I don't have hours to dedicate to keeping it in tip top condition.

So any proper technics / websites that outline the steps would be great. Also looking for product recommendations (I'm not opposed to ordering online, etc.)

Thanks in advance.

I was looking at Adams' site but for a noob its overwhelming trying to figure out what I should get just to keep it clean - so to speak.

I need like a "how to wash/wax a new car for dummies" book or something!!! That probably truly exists :)

Check out these two web sites--autogeek and autopia. Autogeek sells professional detailer supplies. They also have lots of different products by various manufactures. They also have lots of u-tube presentations on the use of various products. You can buy detailer products from them. Autopia is a world wide professional detailer site. They provide information from detailers concerning different products, show their results and make recommendations on product use and they also answer questions from users. The amount of information can seem overwhelming but if you take it slow and listen to the experts that actually use the products instead of people that are just trying to sell you something I think you will figure out which products will be best for your situation. Please remember that Adam's sponsors this section and they have a rather vocal following. I have no experience with their products, however remember there are lots of products available, including Adam's.

A shiny one
At an absolute minimum, get yourself set up with a 2-bucket wash system to maintain the condition of your new paint and minimize the risk of adding new swirls/scratches.

Also, I'd recommend getting a coat of sealant on there for protection. Our Liquid Paint Sealant is very easy to use and will give you anywhere from 4-6 months of protection.

From there, you have many options depending on a few things like the amount of time you want to invest into caring for the truck, budget, etc.

Take some time and cruise through our videos when you have some time. LOTS of great info in there!

Great thanks, I've been looking at your site and will take a look at the videos. I've only driven the truck for one week since taking delivery, the rest of the time it's been parked in the garage (and when out always parked in the shade). I've been looking for a basic kit to get started with...looks like you may have some - i'll take a look

I see there is a good following of Adams products here, but what's the difference between them and others only sold online versus what you can get in the local auto parts stores... ie meguires/mothers/etc.

Products sold in part stores or big box stores are usually not "professional" detail products and your results may not be as good. Go to autopia and look for discussions about products and the results the pro's get using professional products. In the end-----use what you like, what you can afford, what your comfortable with and products that give you the results you like. Once you get past the hype and ******** it will be easier to decide which products are the best for your situation. Sometimes you just have to try different products and/or combinations before you find what your comfortable with and satisfied with the final results.

I am not a novise detailer wanting a show truck just the average working guy just want my truck to look nice and be protected I use it every day I drive approximately 50 miles per day m-f. I just can't spend over $100 on a starter kit that has just the basic stuff where I spend like $140 for everything from clay bar polish back to black chrome polish wheel and tire stuff wax sealant compound and interior spray protectant that is including the $60 i spent on the da attatchment from meguiars and all the sample products and pad packs everything you will ever need to clean wash protect and wax. I use the meguiars line. I hope this helps you any thing I can do send me a pm and I will do my best.

You can also get good prices on all the stuff you need from auto detailing solutions online. I use meguiars and I ordered the stuff I needed that I could not find around town autozone anvanced auto orieleys and walmart. Walmart was the cheapest for the same stuff. Auto detailing solutions charge flat rate shipping of $6.95 for up to $124.99 after $125 it is free shipping. I ordered my stuff thursday and it is die to be delivered on monday.
