I'm not finding the answer to this question through conventional Google searches and by looking at the owner's manual(s).

Can the 2021 Ram 1500, equipped with either the 8.4 UConnect six speaker, 8.4 UConnect 10 speaker with subwoofer, or the 12" Harmoa Kardon 19 speaker system play FLAC audio files?

Unfortunately I have had no luck with FLAC but you can convert them to MP3 and load a USB drive 1, 2, and 3 will work as media drives in my 2019

Yes, I've got several thumb drives full of MP3 files that I've used in my 2015 and 2018 Big Horn. Now that I've updated my home stereo system it can play FLAC, my TV can play FLAC, my phone can play FLAC. The only thing that can't play FLAC (apparently) is my vehicle. FLAC files can be tagged (album art, song title, artist, etc.) just like MP3 files. And yes, I can tell there is a quality difference between playing MP3 and FLAC files. I'd like to get away from MP3's.

My lease is up in a couple months, looking at new trucks, and it sure would be nice if the new 2021 Ram's could play FLAC files. I wonder if Ford F150 can play them?

LMFOA!!!

Uconnect - 2020 Ram Trucks Uconnect 12 NAV/UAX

The For supported formats, refer to the UBS Port section on the DVD, I do not have a DVD player. Pitched in the trash years ago.
Wow. So to get the answer as to which audio file formats are supported they are asking the user to play a DVD? A DVD?!! Actual physical media that is over 20 years old?

My 19 Laramie 12"HK will play FLAC from the USB I use. You may need a different drive format or USB drive if your's won't play them.

I've got several 32GB thumb drives formatted in FAT32 format. They work on every device I own, including for playing MP3 files on both my previous 2015 and current 2018 Big Horns.

FLAC files on 32GB FAT32 formatted thumb drives did not work in my 2015 Big Horn with 8.4 Alpine system. I have not tried FLAC in my 2018 Big Horn with 8.4 six speaker system. I will try that and see.

Well there you go, get a F150.
I've leased seven of them since 1997 switching to Ram in 2015. For various reasons I prefer Ram and don't want to go back to Ford. Whether or not Ram can play FLAC files would not be a reason to switch, however, I am wondering why they apparently lag Ford in this feature.

Well I can say for 100% sure there is not system better than Uconnect. I have dealt with many different systems and none come close.

And it appears that the (at least the last GEN) 8.4 ucconect will play WAV and FLAC files. So FCA has been doing it since at least 2018.

FWIW, I formatted the Sandisk 3.1 USB drive in NTSF to get the FLAC files to work. exFAT did not work. Ripped them from CD's using WMP in Win-10.

I tried adding FLAC files to a thumb drive formatted in FAT32 and they played in my 2018 Ram Big Horn with 8.4 UConnect and six speaker system.

I presume the 2021 models will play FLAC files. But why is it so darn hard to confirm this?
