Greetings to all!

Owner of a 2011 2500 with a 6.7L Cummins. Here mostly to find out cooling specs since I just got a 30' gooseneck trailer and will be doing some hauling for fun and profit.

I was coming back from NC with the trailer when the temperature shot up - up to about 211° - and since I'll be hauling I want to find out about the cooling system. Usually hauling other smaller trailers didn't affect the truck at all. I'm thinking about upgrading the radiator, but I'm not sure about how many rows the original factory one has, or if putting one in that has more rows will help keep it cooler. Thoughts?

I had the 2011 3500 and never experienced that. I’d be doing some diagnostics before jumping into parts changing. For example of it’s the thermostat a new rad won’t help.

I’ve had several Ram Cummins hauling heavy and never experienced a lack of cooling performance, even in Texas at 113 degrees or running around in the Rockies in the summertime. And usually I was running extra power. Although the 2011 I kept stock.

Good luck getting it sorted out.

Thanks for the responses and welcomes, everyone!

I had a nephew work on the truck and I think he mixed red and green coolant types, so I'm wondering if there's a clog inside it. That N.C. trip where it got hotter was the first time it did anything like that. I did change the thermostat before I went to N.C.
