My fuel gauge recently started fluctuating when the tank level is anywhere between half a tank and full. Sometimes the gauge will go all the way down to 1/4 tank then back up. Today it dropped all the way to empty and I just filled the tank. Once the tank gets low the gauge seems to stay consistent.
Does the sending unit on the pump have a ground somewhere that I can check? The pump is about 5 years old but the pump itself is working just fine.
Any ideas on where to start checking without dropping the tank? I already checked the connection at the top of the fuel tank.
