I am puzzled why there is no option to automatically fold your mirrors in when you turn off your vehicle. The truck has the ability to turn them in but why not give us an option to turn them in automatically??

I wish it had that option. Even the Alfaobd coder can't get it to work.

Yea I think it would be nice as well. Been on 20k KIA's for a while now, haha. Granted, my power fold mirrors have been effed up since I got my truck and we're still playing games. I know it's a pretty standard feature for cars; I wonder if any trucks have the feature?

Not sure I would want that feature at this time of year when temps get real cold...I purposely make sure not to fold them in most of the time because I might come out the next morning to everything being frozen solid. Would be a nice feature otherwise though.

Are you guys really wanting those mirrors to fold in every time you park, regardless of where your at? I’m not a bettin’ man but I guess if I was to make an educated assumption, I would think the reason why there’s not even a selectable option is be because for one, most people would only use that feature whenever they are parking in a big parking lot that’s crowded and that’s got small parking places. That’s pretty much all I use mine for. I don’t want somebody to rip my side view mirror off with their head or their shoulder if they get too close to the truck but other than that, I’ll fold them on demand at a drive through, or if I go through an automated car wash but that’s it. Besides, the little switch to fold them is right there on the door.

Second, they probably don’t want to have to be paying out the rear on a whole bunch of possible future warranty claims on mirrors from power folding all the time burning the little motors out prematurely, or stripping the gears, or whatever else. And like the one guy said, you’re probably gonna beak something when that mirror try’s to fold out automatically and it’s froze.

Probably because they aren't garaged? In my subdivision of about 400 homes I don't know of anyone that garages their full size pickups. They all sit outside. The only reason I fold mine is when I occasionally use a drive thru .So since July , they've been folded 3 times. Once to make sure they were working at delivery, the other 2 were when the walk up atm was out of order at my bank and I had to use the drive through atm.

I would love this option! We have it on our other car - never given any issues, and it just makes sense to have an option to make it automatic.

I fold them in every time I get out, but gee I would like it to it without me having to!

Hmm, even if I had the option to make mine automatic, it would probably never stay on.

How cold does it get there? I feel like around here I wouldn't dare fold them in under 20-30 degrees Fahrenheit.

Not that cold. We only get to about -8 C.

Our car spaces in car parks are ****** small. My RAM 1500 is considered very very very large for a normal vehicle. Lol.

Ah not too bad then, makes sense for the small parking spaces though. I fold them in (temperature permitting of course) for some of our tighter spaces or smaller streets, but most of the time they can be left out without worry. Never been to Australia, but it is on our list and definitely something I look forward to.

You should come down. It’s awesome. Lol.

I do like to squeeze my truck into some tight spaces.

Keep in mind that feature is something you can turn off. I wouldn't use it often either but with the hardware in place its just a matter of a switch and programming. Now if they had the lights under the mirrors engineered to work with the mirrors folded in then it would make it a bit more useful to me. I like having the side lit up when entering and exiting.

I love having the folding mirrors and wish there was the option to turn on the automatic fold when the key gets turned off. On my 2012 ram, the mirrors really took a beating and had a half a dozen different paint color kisses from people bumping them with either mirror of door when opening. I fold mine with the button every time I leave the truck. I especially like it when I pull into the garage and can fold them in and move a little farther to the right. It also allows for a little more room between the vehicles.

Yeah but as I said, unless you’re parking in tight crowded parking lots all the time, you really don’t need them to fold in all the time on their own every time you shut the truck off but too each is own I spose.

I would love the option to automatically fold the mirrors when turning off or unfolding when put in gear. I thought the approach lights still worked with them folded but I’ll have check that next time.

First thing I bought after buying my truck in December was this cover. Knowing that the snow was coming and unable to fit in the garage anymore :banghead: I knew I would need something to save time and myself from freezing as much. The one thing I learned with the cover was if putting it on a wet (or if it rains) windshield is to tuck the front flap into the gap under the hood to prevent it from freezing to the hood. It will freeze to the windshield(if it’s wet) also but is easy enough to pull off.

They still work just don't throw the light in a very useful manner when compared to folded out.

Yep I noticed that when I walked up to mine the other evening. At least it’s still throwing some light out but again not as useful as when unfolded.
