Saw this today in the mopar insider. Thought it was interesting.

Seems that our beloved 4th gens are good to go for another year! This is an incredible run for this body style. 2009-2021 12 years and counting. That ties the 1st gen 1981-1993 at this point.

They obviously are doing something right!

Ever since I was a little boy I wanted a Ram, because of how awesome they looked. 10 years later and I’m the proud owner of a 2016 2500

I love my 4th Gen RCSB, but I kind of wish that they would not continue on. That way there would be more of a chance that they would introduce a 5th gen RCSB. Though my next one will probably be a 2500.

Going to a 2500 was one of the best moves I've made. If you do it, you likely won't regret it. There are pros and cons like anything else, but the cons were non issues for me.

I love mine for many reasons and until the day comes that I can't physically get into one, and lord willing I can afford one, I'll have 25 0r 3500 going forward

As long as FCA has the financial success of the Classic going on, it will stay in production. Having the choice of Classic or 5th gen is a win-win for FCA.

That's awesome they are going to continue making 4th gen's until 2023, guess this disproves the theory they only kept making them due to having extra parts laying around

For sure.

I almost pulled the trigger on a brand new Dodge Ram 2wd RCSB, 3.9L Magnum, 5spd back in 1993. It was just over $13k.

I was sweating over the cost so I went with the Dakota of the same configuration for $12k.

Those were the days. That was my first brand new vehicle.

I am also glad to see it linger on. I can see it being a pure cash cow since the tooling and development cost have long be recouped.

I have always loved the style of Chryslers BUT fell in love with the first 1996 Ram 1500 I saw and have owned a 96 , 98 and now a 2003 great trucks that ride awesome in my eyes and last if you keep maintenance done and the roads here in Michigan suck in the country where I live lol .

I highly doubt it. Too much going on with that tailgate to try and tool it for the Classic. It is a Halo item meant to sell more of the new 5th Gen RAM's

I think it is kinda the "other truck" option for FCA. If you look at Ford and GM (Toyota as well). GM (and Toyota) has had and kept the Canyon (Tacoma) pickup. Ford had then dropped and then brought back the Ranger. Ram does not have a "Smaller" i.e. lower cost entry level truck until the "Classic" was put on sale beside the Gen 5. So now as with the other 2 you have 2 options of truck, even if there are both full size. If you look at the Canyon, Tacoma, Ranger, they are only slightly smaller trucks and only slightly better mileage compared to their full size counter parts........... IMO they should continue to provide the full size option at the "mid-size" price of the others.....

Probably 1% chance. They're not going to spend any more money retooling what's already there for the 4th gen.
