First I'd like to thank Brandon and all the others for their experienced advice which has helped me beyond words. But in the countless hours of reading all I could stand. here's one I haven't heard so far.., I'm looking for some lift advise based on my recent modifications. For the record: 2017 Sport SC SB 4x4 5.7 with 15000 on the clock, no plans for off-roading, just sand here in So. Florida (Just a level/lift for Hurricane flooding).
When I first measured my truck, I had 4 1/2" of Rake (Off a 1/4" here and there, but basically 4 1/2") So I dropped the coin and ordered Bills all around intending to level it @ 2.8 in the front leaving a little rake (That I like). But first... I dropped an ARE "Z" fiberglass cap (A Claimed 180#) on the back. Now I could understand the rear dropping an inch due to the inherently wimpy coil springs, but the front also jumped up 2" Huh!? Wha!? so now I only have 1 1/2" of rake... Now explain how I got a free 3" leveling kit out of this deal??? Then I tried jacking the rear end back up the inch I had lost (at the Hitch) but the front only dropped 1/4" I would have thought the front end would have been the fulcrum in this instance. Could it be something to do with the geometry of the 4 link rear causing this phenomena?? So... do I plan a lift based on he original 4 1/2" of rake? Or the present 1 1/2" of rake by adding some 1 1/2" springs or shims to the rear end? Or here's another option just put a 3" BL in it and call it a day?.
Has anybody heard of this sort of thing?
