First post here. Hello to all.
I owned a couple of Rams years ago, but have been driving Fords in recent years. Most recently a 2011 SuperCrew EcoBoost V6. It's been a great truck; no complaints and a few "attaboys" for the Ford. I especially have enjoyed the tailgate step and tailgate "handle" for getting in and out of the bed easily. I'll miss those two features. Also the power fold-in mirrors. I set out this week to buy a new 2014 SuperCrew. But then I decided to take a closer look at a new Ram...
My wife and I dropped by a Ram dealer at noon today and by 3:30 we were driving home in our new Longhorn 1500 Hemi.
Love the rumble of a V8 again- after the whining twin-turbo V6. Love the RamBox bed and tool boxes. LOVE that the tailgate and toolboxes lock and unlock with the doors. Love the steering wheel and the infotainment system is a big step up from Ford's. Lots more to love about the Ram- most of which I haven't even discovered yet, probably.
But the best part? 15-minute, no hassle, no haggle year-end clearance pricing. Window sticker was $54,200+ and the final price after several rebates was $44,700. A $9500 discount by the time the dealer went to invoice pricing, gave me the dealer holdback, the $1500 rebate, the $1000 "conquest" rebate as a current Ford owner plus another $500 rebate because I used Chrysler Capital for financing.
(Note- the interest rate at CC was 1% higher than my credit union, but the fine print says I only have to keep the loan active for 90 days to earn the additional $500 rebate and then I RE-finance the truck thru my credit union at 2.99% instead of 3.99%. That saves $960 in interest over 48 months. I did the same thing on my 2011 Ford to get additional rebate and then refinanced it.)
Put 100 miles on this evening and couldn't be more pleased. NOW all I have to do is sell my Ford.
Just wanted to introduce myself. I'll be learning lots about my new Ram in the weeks to come and may have a few questions.
Steve (Boompa is an old German word for grandfather and is what my 6 grandkids call me. I'm 64, btw and a caraholic. I've owned well over 100 cars and currently drive a 50th anniversary Corvette convertible with 9,000 miles on it, in addition to the Ram.)
