I am looking to see if anyone has found a 2" receiver for a 4th gen 1500 that doesn't hang so low.

I don't mind having to cut a hole in my bumper or move my plate. I am simply looking for a receiver to mount a winch or d-ring to help others/get help while driving in snow/mud that was a little too much for the stuck vehicle.

I have a Hitch Mount 10,000lbs Superwinch, which I will presume should get me or anything I plan to help unstuck with relative ease. Most front hitches seem to be limited at 9,000 line pull, which, while I expect SOME engineering safety headroom, will probably not be enough either.

Edit: Also, I did a few searches and very few results came up here.

Maybe level your truck or maybe a 4" lift would help.

LOL....I like the way you think. I do plan to put a 2-2.5 inch level and bigger tires. Since I rarely plan to have a heavy load IN the 5'7" bed, but tow a trailer for heavy stuff this shouldn't be too big of a deal either....

I may have to go with some bellows on the back axle "Just in Case"....

Might look T-1000 air bags. I have them and they work well when I towed my tandem axle work trailer.

There's a guy who did a hidden winch set up on a 2010 ram 1500. I would think you could do the same thing, but just weld in a receiver. The thread is how to install a hidden winch on 2010 ram 1500 I believe. I would think a lot of the info on installing a hidden winch could be transferred to your project

If you succeed a flip up front plate that covers it would allow you to keep the front plate where it is if you could find a way to pin the winch in easily with the receiver flush to the bumper.

I am pretty sure I wouldn't mind reaching under the bumper for the rare event where I need to put the winch/D-Ring/plate mount in.

But I do like the idea of a Plate mounted to a 2 inch tube...

That's an. Even better idea. Just pin the plate in and take it off to winch. License plate hitch plug.

If you have a roller fairlead for the winch, you can make clips out of PVC pipe to hold a plate. b5bac0fa7ee0f1abeb89b0177a789c82.jpg

I actually thought about adding dual receivers to my winch mount. There is just enough room to fit receiver tubes through the tow hook openings.
But, I decided to go with the bull bar instead. 161a37f315f7c150e737a5dab6154836.jpg

If I could find that for a 1500, I would do it in a heartbeat, without hesitation. Two receivers would be as good as I could ever ask for.

There used to be a company that produced a hitch that would attach to the front tow hooks, very similar to how the rear tow receiver is mounted on the frame. You would slip it on, snug it down, and off you go. I couldn't find it with a quick search though.

Looks like they haven't updated their Facebook in almost 30 months. Maybe not in business anymore?

It appears they are completely out of business.... Unfortunate as I was really liking the concept.

I don't have tow hooks, just little plastic inserts where they would normally come out, but a 2" receiver mounted through there on each side would be awesome, especially if i could fabricate a winch plate to mount to BOTH, in order to gain the strength of both frame rails, and center the winch. Then have only the receivers tubes sticking out any other time. I could even put in the Shackle hitch in there for most of the time, just in case.

I could also mount some bright flood lights in there for work/driving in the back country.

The ideas are just flowing right now regarding what could be done if I had two 2" receivers up front, mounted to the tow hook connection points on the frame.
