I took my 98 1500 with the 360 out to woods to camp this past weekend. At some point on the trail my ABS and brake light came on, and the speedo stopped working. I've looked into it and found the usual speed sensor problem, no big deal. The problem I'm faced with now is theres a hose that comes from the passenger side axle (backside) and is no longer connected to anything on the other end, and I don't know where it is supposed to connect to. I don't beat on my truck at all the worst it sees is pulling my horse trailer and horse. The truck is parked until I fix this, but I need to haul my horse on Friday. Pictures on the hose are attached. Its the hose on the right in the picture of the backside of axle.

You say the hose is connected to the axle, yet it looks like its hanging above the axle?

Either way, its a vent tube from something, I recognize the white plastic thing on the end. I cant remember where the vent tubes run from the axles and transmission, but that what it appears to be.

Just pull it back up into the engine bay and secure it to the inner fender or something with zipties. Its purpose is to prevent a vacuum from forming after cooling down from a drive and subsequently pulling in water into the axle tube/differential.

Mine has been hanging off my rear axle for 8 months now. I just toss it back up and over the axle every time it falls and starts dragging on the ground (I havent really gotten around to not being lazy long enough to secure it to something).

Thank you! I replaced the abs speed sensor during lunch and the lights went away and speedo works again. I just wasn't sure about that hose. At least I know it's safe for the kids and the horse.
