I have a 2014 ram 1500. Crawled under it the other day and noticed that my passenger side axle is moveable about 1/2 inch or so forwards and backwards right where it connects to the front diff.
Figured it was a bad axle so I replaced it but it still does the same thing.

What is the piece on the big circle? Is that still just considered the front diff? It looks like it's a separate piece that bolts on.

It moves where the little circle is but it seems more like the axle itself not the splined shaft.

Not sure if it's related or not but the driver's side is leaking from behind the splines. I think it's called the half shaft. 20200727_172112.jpg

$400 for a intermediate shaft is steep. I'm starting to think my trucks knows I've been thinking about trading it in. Its been having a medley of small but expensive issues lately.

Cheaper than the $8-$1600 (depending on gear ratio) that the front dif costs. Once they start the nickle and dime game it's a toss up on if it's worth it to you or not.
