Hey all,

I've seen a few posts on this board about 6x9s in the front doors, but most are with shallower speakers. I'm looking at getting some Morel Tempo Ultra 692 comps and the mounted woofer depth is 3.35". I think they will fit with a 3/8 or 1/2 inch spacer, but I'm not certain. At least I don't have to worry about a tweeter poking out like a coax. All I care about is clearing the window track with the magnet and enough clearance at the front to not have the speaker hit the grill at full extension. Any info from someone that has mounted a similar size is appreciated.

1/2 adapter will get the .35 might be an issue though.

I'm going with 6.5 in my doors with spacers.

I can tell you that my esotar 650's are 3.228 inches including the 15mm of max cone excursion and they fit fine with a 1/2" adapter plate. I fun them at full excursion often and they do not contact the inner door panel.

That's a lot of depth for a 6.5! Unfortunately that's not quite apples to apples as a 6.5 is usually centered on the grill where there is a little more room than the edges on the front. A 6x9 might have clearance issues towards the edge.

I might just have to take my door apart and roll into the shop and test mount before I buy these particular speakers.

^X2. I tried putting these in my door,
Infinity Reference 9633cf 6"x9" 3-way car speakers at Crutchfield.com
but the magnet was too tall even with spacers.
So i used 6.5 infinitys with the adapters and they fit perfectly fine.
I used the 6x9s on the back speakers on my regular cab ram and they fit with no issues!

The 9633cf has a mounting depth of 3 1/16". Do you know exactly how thick the spacer was you tried? That's also a coax speaker and from pics it shows the tweeters protrude from the woofer quite a bit so that would limit your spacer thickness. My 6x9 will be the woofer only.

My HAT Imagine 6x9 required a 1/2 in spacer that I shaved in an angle. I also flush the plastic behind the grill to make 100% sure it cleared while reaching xmax.

Well I hope you're able to make them work...I'd love to hear your impressions. Those will certainly be midbass monsters! Have you heard them before?
I'd be curious as to how well the 6x9 does up top...until the tweeter takes over?
Keep us posted!

If you are putting a amp on them they sound great they have a lot of mid punch that is what you get off of a 6x9

Yes, I'm really hoping I can make them fit as well. I listened to the 6.5" component version in a sound room, but unfortunately they didn't have the 6x9 in stock to hook up. I loved the Morel sound, smooth. I doubt Morel would make a 6x9 comp set if it wasn't up to snuff, but we'll see once I get it bumping. The passive crossover is spec'd at 3200hz, but I'll be running active so I'll have some room to tweak. I will have Arc 450.4 and 1100.5 amps so I have enough channels to add an active 3.5" midrange woofer in the dash or door if I feel there's a gap in there. 150+ watts will be going to the doors so that should get some good midbass. I'll provide an update once it's a reality.

That is very useful information since the HAT Imagines have the exact same mounting depth as the Morels. Thank you! BTW what part of the spacer did you have to shave? Just the sections towards the long edges?
