So I'm driving to work today, down a back road, go over a bump and hear a thud. Now once I shift into 4th around 30, there's a tick. When you shift into 5th, regardless of what speed, it changes tone&becomes louder. Got underneath her and the sway bar is quite loose. Now this makes sense to me, as the steering is visibly more loose going over slight bumps. During my lunch. I hobbled her home&now just curious as to whether it simply could be the sway bar link. Thoughts?

Sway bar shouldn't cause that issue but would definitely cause an audible noise over bumps.

Yep after driving it again after work, its a transfer case issue. Same things will cause it, just reaching 30 causes more or less a CLICK, not a grind.. Really unsure what this could be honestly. It's only in 2wd, and I drove up to 45 in 4H and besides the noise of all the extra parts moving, there was no noise out of the ordinary. Now this is a problem. What I'm wondering is if its not fully engaged into 2WD and stuck somewhere in between? I'm not fully sure that wouldn't cause more of a grind however.. Ill tell you, I'm stumped. Taking her to a local mopar drag racer tomorrow.. Don't think there is anything dodge he hasn't touched or worked on. Hopefully he has an idea.

Ya see, I dunno. really seems like its a tcase thing now that I wasn't either half awake on my way to work nor just focusing on getting her home without hurting anything, you put your hand on the knob and you can feel the shake coming up through it.

but I drove my 350k mile Chevy over to my buddies house till tomorrow lol. Will keep everyone updated on this tomorrow though

Did you get an adjustable one because you have the 2.5" spacer lift?

looking for one but idk where to look. Lol
but so I have a appt set up at a tranny shop next friday, nothing will be touched on that truck until then. no one locally will touch my truck, not even ride in with me to hear it&see if they have an idea. So wish me luck on next week, because if its a whole replacement on either, tcase or tranny, I might be without the dodge for a few months.

So I was reading up&some guy had the exact problem as me, and a dodge tech said it could be a chain. Now I have very little knowledge on the workings of the tcase, but where is the chain in the case and what does it do exactly? lol

thoughts? Local tranny guy was sure tranny and tcase were all good, but that it was coming from the diff. It would make sense if the noise was there all the time, but like I said it's gone in 4hi. I'm thinking another opinion is needed
