Frustrated New Ram Owner!! Issues with starting!!!

Does anyone else have intermittent starting issues with Ram 1500 5.7 litre. I have a 2016 and this is driving me bonkers.

Can't see the videos, could it be a simple battery change-out? Batteries tend to last 3-4 years on average, and if your truck is a 2016 it could be that.

Start simple, check battery and connections at both ends of the cables.

Does this happen only after sitting a couple hours, all the time, or first thing in the morning?

Could be a fuel pump,leaking injectors, bad purge valve. Depends on when it happens, but those are the most common failures.

It happened only a few times after I purchased. Dealership changed fuel pump and now it seems to be worse. No rhyme or reason. Happens after driving in heat as well. I am getting back to dealership ASAP. Just want to see if this is normal for a Ram. TY everyone for your help!!!

I also notice the smell of gasoline some times so this is great info to start on based on my research. I love this Ram I just want it to start!!

No it’s not normal. Most likely leaking injectors or purge valve based on what you said.

Well I have now replaced the battery, fuel pump, starter and the purge valve with no luck. Am I not in the right to get upset with dealership??

The incidence of it happening in heat combined with the smell of gas is a symptom of vapor lock, but that is pretty uncommon in today's engines. Maybe there is a problem with fuel line loose and swinging near heat source.

Have they done a leak down test on the injectors?

It is to much fuel or not enough
if the dealer is not smart enough to figure out time for new dealer

I dropped off my Ram last Thursday so the Service Manager could dive into the issue himself. Will let everyone know. He said it might be the TIMPS or the fuel pump relay that they see with other vehicles. I am rocking a loaner Fiat right now and by rocking I mean leaving in my driveway.

And the winner is........ leaking fuel injector!! Thank you everyone for your input. Now I can concentrate on mods!!
