Both redline s1 and Amsoil PI are UCL's even though they don't say it. The carrier is oil, all ucl's are just mineral oil. The argument is does that work, adding oil to gas when the system already has oil running around lubricating it. The supposed need is because gas and ethonal can clean the oil off the sides that maybe it is beneficial to have some oil in the gas. Anything with oil you put in gas is an UCL. Redline s1 and Amsoil PI I do believe are mostly oil?

Base Oil(s)* 60 - 100% See below
Polyether Amine ≥25 - ≤50%
Naphthalene ≤0.3 91-20-3

That is Amsoil PI, definitely a ucl, at best it is 60% base oil.

Redline S1, less oil then Amsoil PI if you believe msds sheets.

Distillates, petroleum, hydrotreated light naphthenic 64742-53-6 38-46%
Polyetheramine 224622-34-8 28-34%
Distillates, petroleum, hydrotreated heavy naphthenic 64742-52-5 20.78%
Naphtha, petroleum, hydrodesulfurized heavy 64742-82-1 4-6%
Ethylbenzene 100-41-4 .1-.2%

If you don't want a ucl then use Techron, I don't believe that to use a base oil like redline or amsoil. They use mostly solvent.

So are you saying if you just want a cleaner use techron and if you want a UCL and cleaner use either S1 or Amsoil pi? This is just about as bad as trying to analyze oil and which one to use.

Yes, the carrier in Amsoil PI is derived from a "base oil". Not all "oils" are lubricants. That is the case here. If you look up the CAS numbers listed on the SDS, you'll find that 2 are solvents similar to Kerosene, used in the dilution of oils. The other is Naphtha, which is also a solvent. None of the listed ingredients are lubricants. PI is not an UCL. If it were, I think they would claim it.

Ten pages of info below on two papers about the product. Not one mention of it being anything other than a cleaner.

Take some PI or SI and rub it between your fingers, then take some techron rub it between your hands, you see what is oil and what isn't. No reason for me to post past this in this thread, I have nothing else to add. PEA cleaners with an oil base is my choice for a fuel additive.

I wasn't causing drama I literally have nothing to add. My limited knowledge on gas additives ended there.

See post #26 for factual information concerning PI. Techron has 80% of the same "base oil" CAS as PI has 60-100% of. It's the lab version of a Kerosene-type solvent used to dilute petroleum bases. If you believe that is a lube, I have some swamp land in Florida to sell you.

Well theres definitely something slippery in Amsoil PI. I spilled some one time at a gas staion while putting it in the wifes Grand Cherokee which has the capless fuel filler. Asinine design. Anyway the ground was so slick I almost fell on my ass.

Yep, Kerosene will do that.
