Well, when my 2014 had a similar issue, my dealer diagnosed to
a bad fuel level sending unit at the tank.

Mine however went all the way to empty and stayed there no matter what.
A number of gremlins could be causing your issue, but if it is acting as
consistently as you suggest I would go straight to the fuel sending unit
in the tank.
Extra credit points if you make tests with a volt meter first. ;)

Based on my experience and understanding It's caused by putting a consistent amount of gas, say 20 or 30 dollars in gas in at the time on a long term basis and the fuel level sensor sweeps across the same area consistently wearing that portion of the fuel level sensor out.

Either live with it or drop the tank and replace the sending unit, or in some cases the fuel pump.

No real fix for it that I'm aware of.

Thanks for the response guys. I replaced several fuel pumps on my 1999 suburban over 240k miles, it just quit pumping. Is a new pump needed or is the sending unit separate?

Aside from the obvious, that we both have 2014 Rams, when mine went up they told me they might have to replace both because sometimes the pump and sensor are one. Then they told me mine was separate, which seems rather honest. And I was only charged for the sensor.

This was a dealership I was frequenting at the time.

Brother,it's obviously your call..!! However,I'd love to offer to spend your Kid's Inheritance by encouraging you to buy and install a new fuel pump as well as the Sender Module. I've got no idea what your mileage on that Truck's Clock is,but for what you have to go through to gain access to that tank,I'd do the whole shooting match, and check your "Salt & Brine Attractors",namely any fuel lines..!! Good Luck, and Good Repairing..!!

LOL.... Way back when, step father ( I am adopted) had a '70 dodge w 100 pickup. Gas tank behind seat. Gauge sender went out and the cheapskate didn't replace. He put some marbles in there and when they got real loud rolling around, he would fuel up.
