Hi all,

My fuel sensor in my '14 1500 is having issues. Basically, once it gets near ~3/4 mark, it starts thinking the gas tank is empty and shows zero fuel left. The fuel sensor fail message also pops up every now and then (as does the check engine light).

I took it to a Firestone and they said the entire fuel pump would need to be replaced in order to fix the fuel sensor. Does the seem right to you guys?

Yeah, it's all one unit... My fuel pump went out @ 10,000 miles and I had to have it replaced under warranty.

The sender can be replaced. The whole unit does not have to be replaced. It cost me 120 for the part and about 3 hours to complete the job

The dealer replaces the unit. Where did you get the part?

Hey guys. My truck is at 92K miles so I don't think the dealer can help me much. I took it to a Firestone where they said "it's all one piece so we have to change out the entire fuel pump". Are you suggesting the sender can be swapped out without replacing the entire pump? Or, even if so, at 92K, would it be smart to take the time now to have it changed to avoid potential fuel pump issues down the road?

Im not suggesting. I've completed the install.

Up to you on the fuel pump.

The fuel pump itself can be replaced as well.

is there a better or alternate replacement fuel pump/sender unit available so I don't put back the same crappy part that fails all the time? 2014 RAM 1500...
ALSO what other parts would be good to get... O-ring? and ?

I think there must have been a bad batch of fuel level senders.

You can put aftermarket fuel pumps in this assembly.

Walbro makes them.

I replaced mine with oem parts and so far so good.

So weird, my started doing exactly the same thing this week. 76k miles, 2014 Hemi.
What part did you end up ordering? I can't seem to find any parts at all that are fuel related except for a filter, much less a pump or sender.
Thanks.

Had to replace the fuel tank in my 03 5.7 quad cab 230k miles. Last fuel pump replaced at 105k. Tank out, had them replace the fuel pump assembly. OEM from dealer was Bosch and NAPA gold was Bosch and $200 less. Dropping the tank, pulling the unit and replacing "a part" on the unit. Makes no labor sense.

It makes sense if the part to replace is $100 and the dealer is quoting you on replacing the entire assembly to a tune north of $700.

If your saying that "you" replaced the part for $100 and the labor was your own time, then I can see your point. I just worry about 92k miles and would hate to see the pump go out in 3-6 mos and your labor time is back under your truck doing it again.

Yes Sir I dropped the tank myself. I can get this done in under 2 hours from start to finish by myself with basic tools and no lift ;)

Mine just started doing this. I sent a message to allmoparparts.com for the part. What kind of clips hold the lines on? Are there any special tools needed to remove them? Or any special tools required to do the project?
