I seen it on Gears the other day, anybody know anything about it? They claim to give you up to a 22% gain on your fuel economy by shutting down 2-4 of your cylinders for vehicles that don't have any sort of fuel management on them.
I can't find to much info on it.

Fuel Saving Guys | Fuel Smart Cylinder Deactivation Technology
This is what MDS does on Dodge & RAM Hemis.
The clip you linked to explains that product is intended for late model vehicles without active fuel management.

My 2007 2500 doesn't have any sort of MDS on it. I thought I'd throw it out there and see what you guys think. What about long term damage or o2 sensor's??? The products gotta help out with MPG's. Would you use it on your rig?

I guess this will drop to 4cyl when idling... That sounds like it could be beneficial.
I'd really like to find someone with a 5.7L ram and see how it's played out for them.

There are all kinds of threads on this forum, usually dealng with transmission performance, hating on MDS.
I've prtetty much figured out the shift points and road conditions when MDS engages, so not really the annoyance for me as some members describe.
That being said, there are times I need to goose the pedal to force a downshift under low load to make MDS cut out and give me the giddy up I expect. :secret:

I have MDS on mine. My only complaint is what Casper describes. It wants to go into an overdrive while I'm doin' 35 mph. Gotta stomp on it to drop out, and even then it takes a couple sec to acknowledge my foot dropping. Thank god I have the tow/haul and o/d off button to turn off the MDS (I think). Bottom line, city driving-turn it off, hwy-good on mostly flat roads
