Hey guys, quick question for you.

One of my ******* buddies tried pouring their extra gas in my 2013 ram 1500. There was a small plastic piece in their gas can that fell down the filler tube. Now I’m having issues putting gas into the truck.

Question: is there a screen on top of the gas tank where the end of the filler tube is clamped on? We took apart the first section of the filler tube and the plastic piece was not there. If there’s a screen on top of the tank, I’m assuming the object is there.

Any help is appreciated.

I suspect the little plastic part is actually in the tank somewhere... exactly where, no idea. I'd never heard of a screen placed way down where the filler neck meets the tank, so, bad news, you're likely going to have to empty the tank, take the tank out out of the truck, and literally shake the thing out.

Sounds more like its stuck in the filler neck. Keeping fuel from free flowing into the tank.
Have you removed the filler neck to see if its stuck in it ???

Odds are if it was large enough to block the flow of fuel into the tank,, it's big enough to get stuck in the filler neck. I've pulled my share of gas tanks. Never seen a screen in the fill hole of a tank.

Or at least make them pay for their mistakes. And I don't mean revenge, I literally mean make them pay. If you end up having to take it somewhere to get fixed, make them pay the bill.

If that is out of the question, you can pay the bill, and follow ReefRaider's advice. Chalk it up as the cost of having associated with the wrong people, and move on. We all make mistakes.

Sounds like your buddy needs to drop your tank and go fishing or stuff your friend in your tank to get it lol.

I had to replace the fuel pump in my wife's Mustang and there was an anti-siphon or one way valve at the base of the filler tube in the tank. There is basically a cap on the bottom of the tube and the gas comes out large slots in the side that get blocked by a spring loaded plunger when not filling. It could be stuck at something like that.

^^^This sounds like your problem.

I have read all newer vehicles have anti-siphon measures (one way valves) in the filler neck, which is why the ******** have taken to drilling a hole in your gas tank to steal your fuel now.
