I felt this was a bit more in depth to go into the audio and electrics subforum so I put it here

Occasionally on my 00, I've noticed my tacho and speedo will not work after first starting up. After driving down the road for a minute, the tacho will come back, followed shortly by my speedo.

I do have a superchips tune on this ECU, with a calibrated speedo for tire size. ECU itself has never been replaced to my knowledge. Only modifications I've done to my cluster are LED lights, the same ones and many fellow forum members have.

When I first had this issue, I did a gauge test. Neither tacho or speedo moved. But obviously came back working shortly.

Anyone had experience with this? Ever seen it? Know anything at all?

Even if the superchip affected the cluster it should only be in the speedo. I feel like when this happens though it should throw the "No Can/Bus" error in the odometer. I would consider a loose connector or maybe a burnt pin somewhere either at the cluster, or the ecm. The abs module can be ruled out since the tach stops working too.
I'm sorry if this doesn't really help or I'm stating the obvious. I looked around on Google and everyone who's had the problem doesn't seem to be able to resolve it. A lot of people recommend a failing abs sensor but that shouldn't affect the tach at all.

Yeah I didn't think the SC would affect it either. I was just adding in like all the info.

What keeps me from thinking that it's a loose connection is the fact that it's consistent. Doesn't work when I start it up. Then after a few seconds works again, then it won't stop working until like the truck sits. So maybe PCM? Or cluster? Idk.

Then I bet it's the cluster because you said it did it even after you ran the self test right? All of that protocol for the test is in the cluster, it doesn't have anything to do with the pcm. Do you have access to a spare cluster to test that?

Yeah true. And no I don't have a spare cluster, and it doesn't happen every single time I start to truck so it'd be hard to see if the problem is solved anyways. But I'm going to start looking into getting a new one
